Students will learn the basic rescue knots, patient packaging, lowering systems and how to

use the rescue equipment efficiently to perform high angle rescue raises and lowers in an

emergency incident.

Instructor: DAVID HOOKS, TRIANGLE RESCUE and SAFETY SPECIALTIES, BEAUMONT

FIRE DEPT., CAPT. (RETIRED)

David is the owner of Triangle Rescue and Safety Specialties and has been

teaching high angle rescue techniques to Industrial Emergency Response

Brigades for many years. David was also a Captain with the Beaumont, Texas Fire

Dept. before retiring in early 2009.

20 HOUR Basic Rope Rescue

8 hour Fire Ground Leadership

Students will participate in classroom lecture and table top exercises to demonstrate skills learned during the lecture.

Instructor: Robert L. Havens – Garner Environmental Services and Port Arthur F.D.

Mr. Havens is employed by the Port Arthur, Tx. Fire Dept as a Fire Captain/Paramedic, Haz-Mat Technician and Fire, EMS, Haz-Mat Instructor since 1992. He also serves as an instructor with the Lamar University since 1997 and has taught at the Regional Fire Academy, The Center for Industrial Fire & Haz-Mat Training and has also taught in the Fire Technology and EMS Degree programs.

Captain Havens is the Haz-Mat Response Team Coordinator for P.A.F.D. and the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for Port Arthur, Tx. Capt. Havens is a member of the Golden Triangle Type III Incident Management Team.

Captain Havens holds certifications with Texas Commission on Fire Protection as a Master Fire Instructor as well as many other Certifications.

12 hr. Basic Trench Rescue

Students will receive lecture on basic trench shoring materials and will

participate in hands on trench shoring drills.

Worked in the industrial field for over fifteen years and demonstrated

competency and performance

of hazmat operations, rescue operations emergency response and

safety consulting

12 hour V.F.I.S. Emergency Vehicle Operations Course

Students will receive lecture in the classroom and all will get to participate

in driving a fire apparatus on the Driving Course.

Instructor: Jonathan Duff, Westlake Fire Dept. Captain/Training

Officer

Jonathan has served as a volunteer and has been a full time Fire Fighter/

EMT-b with the Westlake La. Fire dept for the past 8 years. Jonathan holds

many certifications to include Haz-Mat Operations, LSU Fire Fighter 1 and

2, Fire Officer 1, Fire Instructor 1, and has completed many National Fire

Academy Leadership classes and Incident Scene Safety Officer course.

Jonathan is certified by the Volunteer Fire Insurance Services as a

Emergency Vehicle Driver Instructor.

12 hrs CAMEO

Students will receive lecture on CAMEO, MARPLOT, and ALOHA and participate in

table top exercises.

Instructor: Norman Bourdeau - Operations Manager/ Calcasieu Office Of

Homeland Security/Emergency Preparedness

Norman is employed by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury as the Operations

Manager of the Office of Homeland Security / Emergency Preparedness. Norman

has been involved with all aspects of CAMEO since 1994. He is a certified

instructor for the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security to instruct PER-229

Introduction to CAMEO Suite, MGT 320 Utilizing CAMEO in WMD and other DHS

classes. Norman was part of the team that developed PER-229 and MGT 320 in

conjunction with LSU-National Center for Biological Research and Training.

Norman has delivered CAMEO classes since 2003 to responders in many states

and U.S. Territories.

12 hour Fire Origin and CauseStudents will attend a lecture that teaches the basic fundamentals of

determining Origin and Cause of fires. The student will learn the

different burn patterns that can be found in fire scenes and they will

also receive information on what the responder can do to assist the

Investigator.

Instructor: Nick Heinen – La. State Fire Marshal’s Office

10 hour ATV Search and RescueWhen used properly, the ATV is a valuable resource for search and rescue operations. Their

mobility and speed allows access to large search areas with minimum personnel. An additional

advantage is their capability to rapidly access and transport accident victims from remote

locations.

This course teaches tactics and equipment use not normally included in fire department

operations.

Class limit 15 students, Student only needs to attend 1 of the classes. Saturday class

will be filled first and the Sunday class will take place only if enough interest is shown.Students need to bring their own ATV. Students need to bring Helmet, eye protection, long

pants, sleeved shirt and boots that provide protection for snake bites. Student should also

bring a lunch because practical objectives require field work away from the training center.

A GPS is optional equipment and would be an asset to the participant.

Mark is a member of the National Assoc. for Search and Rescue and is an

approved instructor for SARTECH III courses. Mark is employed by the Calcasieu

Parish Police Jury as the Superintendant of the Calcasieu Emergency Response

Training Center ( CERTC ).

3 hour Emergency Response to Clandestine Drug Labs

Student will attend lecture on the dangers of clandestine drug labs and the appropriate

emergency response techniques.

Fun.S.A.R.FUNDAMENTALS OF SEARCH AND RESCUE

FunSAR is an Intensive, physically demanding that includes an overnight exercise

in which participants will stay in emergency shelters they design. Students will

pass a written test and several “ hands on “ practicals before receiving a certificate

of completion. Students will be expected to bring a minimum amount of physical

fitness for outdoor activities.

NASAR Managing the Lost Person Incident.

3 Hr. LIQUEFIED PROPANE GAS EMERGENCIES( IS YOUR DEPARTMENT PREPARED ? )

Students will receive lecture on propane emergency responses and participate in

table top exercises on fire safety analysis and firefighting requirements during

propane gas storage tank emergencies.

Kent is a veteran of the fire service with over 20 years experience. Kent is a

Certified Firefighter II, Driver Operator and Haz-Mat Operations Level. Kent also

has IFSAC certifications for Fire Instructor 1 and 2, Fire Officer 1 and 2, Fire

Inspector 1 and Fire Investigator.

3 Hr. Improvised Explosive Devices:Recognition and Safety for Emergency Responders

Students will receive classroom lecture on what to look for and safety precautions

to take during an emergency response to Improvised Explosive Devices.

8 hr. Swift Water Rescue AwarenessStudents will receive lecture on Scene Safety, Scene Management, Hydrology, Boat

Handling, Equipment, and Rescue Techniques during a swift water emergency.
