Jaclyn is now 21 year old woman with Down Syndrome. She is
currently studying at the local community college. When Jaclyn was
younger she was easily upset and could not be around peers. Jaclyn
has one older brother who she would often hangout with. She got
involved in the first grade with summer camps, and different social
groups at the local special recreation association.
Slide 12
Jaclyn then joined the local girl scout troop. The girl scout
troop had a few other girls who also had disabilities so she was
easily accepted into the group. This picture is of our girl scout
troop at a dance in the 2 nd grade
Slide 13
Jaclyn slowly made friends with the other girls and became more
active in the group She slowly became more confident with herself.
And was willing to try new things like horse back riding. This
picture is at White Pines Ranch where a few members of the girl
scout troop went horse back riding in 1999.
Slide 14
Overtime Jaclyn became more social and would hang out with her
peers outside of school. Jaclyn continues to be active in the
community. In this picture Jaclyn and I in the 5 th grade
pretending to be Charlie's Angels.
