Welcome back to everyone!

What a great start to the year. The children have already started with amazing attitudes to learning and positive starts have

already been made in their books. We also welcome Miss Christina Tate, our new teacher for Class 4, and know that you will

welcome her.

THANK YOU

A huge thank you must go out to Helen Fawcett, Sasha Potter, Beth Pinto and Neil Morris for their hard work over the

holidays to continue the external improvements to the school. Thanks must also go to the children that ‘accompanied’ them!!

Reminders

Class DOJO, Facebook, Twitter and now email are going to be used on a regular basis to help communication with all parents.

We have had exceptionally positive responses with lots of ‘likes’, messages and ‘shares’ across all methods.

We would like to thank you all for bearing with us while teething problems were rectified. Mrs Spencer and Mrs Longman

have worked incredibly hard to put this system in place. `

Grapes: IF YOUR CHILD BRINGS GRAPES IN THEIR PACKED LUNCH, PLEASE CAN YOU ENSURE THAT THEY ARE CUT

LENGTHWAYS SO THAT THEY DO NOT POSE A CHOCKING HAZARD. Recent events at a local school now means that all grapes

are to be cut in half. Lunchtime staff will automatically do this if they see a child with whole grapes, especially EYFS & KS1.

MASC: The school has employed the services of MASC (Music Academy for Schools and Communities) to provide specialist

Music tuition in a variety of musical instruments. This will take place once a fortnight and each class will have a terms worth of

tuition.

Burstwick Community Primary School

September 2017

School uniform is red jumper/cardigan, white polo shirt, grey trousers/skirt and black school shoes. Indoor shoes are

expected for health and safety reasons as well as for maintaining a clean environment for all children and

staff. Please ensure names are in all uniform items so that if an item is lost, it can be quickly returned.

If you have any queries regarding uniform, please let the school know.

Please ensure PE kit is kept in school as we like to practice whenever possible for events such as Festival of Sport. PE

kit consists of black shorts, white t-shirt (not polo shirt), trainers for outdoor use and a black tracksuit.

PE lessons are now all taught by Coach Rob every afternoon and for a full afternoon. Its is a statutory requirement that all

children take part in PE lessons. Children without kit will still be expected to participate and you will be informed by the

member of staff. If a child is unable to take part on medical grounds, then they will remain inside during break and lunch times.

Individual cases will be considered.

Welcome

As we start a new school year in what is an exciting period for our school it is my pleasure to welcome you all back. From the

excitement for new pupils starting school to the hard work ahead, for those approaching the end of their primary school

journey there seems a real buzz around the school. Whilst welcoming a new teacher Miss Tate to our team, who will add great

enthusiasm and new idea’s, the teaching staff continue to raise the bar each year.

The last school year saw a number of changes and tremendous hard work from all involved within the school. The

improvements from this hard work are starting to be seen with improved SAT’s results, a stronger foundation to improve the

learning opportunities for pupils as well as massive improvements to the school environment. Our head teacher Mr. Cutts has

a clear vision for the school and he has implemented a wide range of changes over his first year in charge and I look forward to

seeing these changes continuing to move our school forward.

As a Governing Board we have great faith in the staff of the school and believe that Burstwick Community Primary School

provides an ideal learning environment for our children. They will learn in a focused way, in a safe environment with plenty of

opportunities for fun and extra-curricular activity. This said we are always open to new ideas and encourage input and support

from parents. There are a number of ways in which parents can be involved within the school and should you feel you would

like to have greater involvement within the school please do not hesitate to approach us.

This just leaves me to say I hope all involved at Burstwick Community Primary School have a successful and happy year.
