Higherisoftenbetter.Forinstance,setituponthetopshelfofabookcaseratherthanthebottomone,ifpossible.

ToinitiallycongureyourAirStation,youlluseawiredconnectiontoyourcomputer.Onceyouveconnectedtotheinternetthroughtherouter,youmayswitchtoawireless
connectionifdesired.ThecomputerusedtoconguretheAirStationshouldbesettoobtainanIPaddressautomaticallyusingaDHCPserver(thisisthedefault).TheWHR-G300NhasadefaultLANIPaddressof192.168.11.1andSubnetMaskof255.255.255.0.
1.PowerdowntheCableorDSLmodemandthecomputerwhichwillbeusedtoconguretheAirStationrouter.
2.PlugtheCableorDSLmodemsEthernetcableintotheAirStationsWANport.Initially,youmayneedtounplugthiscablefromyourcomputer,huborotherrouter.
3.PlugtheprovidedEthernetcableintooneofthefourLANportsontheAirStationandplugtheotherendintoyourcomputersEthernetadapter(NIC).
4. Important: turn everything on in the correct order!! PoweronyourcableorDSLmodemandwaitonefullminute,thenpowerontheAirStationandwaitonefullminute,and
nallypoweronthecomputerwhichwillbeusedtoconguretheAirStation.

AOSS(AirStationOne-TouchSecureSystem)isasimplesystemforconguringyourwirelessnetworksecurely.IfyourrouterandyourclientdeviceareinstalledandbothsupportAOSS,thenmakinga
securewirelessconnectionbetweenthemisveryeasy.PushtheAOSSbuttononthetopofyourrouterandholditinforafewseconds.TheAOSSlightwillbegintoashamber.YounowhavetwominutestopushtheAOSSbuttononyourclientdeviceandnishtheconnection.
AnAOSScompatablestandaloneclientdevicewillprobablyhavealittleredbuttonlabledAOSSonit.Pushthebutton!About15secondslater,youllhaveasecurenetworkconnection.

Some things to keep in mind with AOSS:
OnlyoneAOSSwirelessclientadaptercanbeconguredwiththeAOSSrouteratatime.Thebuttonswillneedtobere-pressedtoconnecteachadditionalAOSSwirelessclient adapter.
ItisnotnecessarytoAOSSclientdevicesthathavealreadybeenconguredviaAOSS,unlesssignicantchangeshavebeenmadetothewirelessnetwork.
DonotattempttoconguretwoseparateAOSSnetworksatthesametime,asitmaycauseundesiredcongurations.
IfanundesiredclienthasconnectedviaAOSS,itcanbedisconnectedfromwithintheWHR-G300Nsadvancedcongurationmenus.
EvenifyourclientdevicedoesntofciallysupportAOSS,youmaystillbeabletouseAOSSifyouinstallBuffalosClientManagersoftwareonyourcomputer.Itworkswithmostclientdevices,includingmanymadebyothermanufacturers.Youcandownloadit from www.buffalotech.com.

PutyourAirstationintoAccessPointModebymovingtheROUTERswitchonthebottomofyourAirStationfromONtoOFF.ThischangesthedefaultIPaddressoftheAirStationfrom192.168.11.1to192.168.11.100,andDHCP,NAT,andtheWANportaredisabled.Allrouterfunctionalityisdisabled,andtheWHR-G300Nbecomesasimpleaccesspoint.
