Renewable sources of energy - alternatives to fossil fuels

Suggested activities:• Activities to increase the use of bio-based solutions • Increased use of renewable energy in transport (e.g. biofuels) • Infrastructure development (networks) relevant for renewable energy • Capacity-building, e.g. in respect of developing plans and policies • Co-processing in industry, e.g. by using waste as an energy source

Programme: Saving Energy and Promoting Renewable Energy

Programme grant: € 75,000,000

Objective: - Reduced emissions of greenhouse gases and air pollutants- Increased share of renewable energy in energy use

Objective: Increased share of renewable energy in energy use

Programme Operator: Directorate of Economy and Energy, Azores

Donor programme partner: The Icelandic National Energy Authority (OS)

Specific concern: The programme shall focus on geothermal energy in the Azores islands.

Only entities in the beneficiary state can apply for project funds – Project Promoter (public/private/commercial/NGO)

Project Promoters can have Icelandic partners – Partnership Projects

Grants size: The amount of grant assistance applied for

within a programme shall normally not be less than € 1,000,000 and … in no cases less than € 170,000.

Projects – Small Grant Schemes

The Programme Operator may in the programme proposal suggest the establishment of small grant schemes within a programme.

The amount of grant assistance applied for within a small grant scheme shall not be less than € 5,000 and not more than € 250,000.

The combined allocation to the small grant scheme(s) shall not be more than 20 % of the eligible expenditure of the programme.

Projects – Aðstoð í tengslum við tvíhliða samvinnu

Seed money to help facilitating and developing potential Partnership Projects:

At national level, 0.5% of the funds for initiatives that will strengthen bilateral relations with the donor states. (NFP)

At programme level, 1.5% of the programme costs to develop partnership projects or promote networking exchange of experience, best practise, etc. (PO/DPP)

Projects – Call for proposal

Minimum requirements:

Specify the eligible applicants - may be a limited call. Widely published in view to reach all potential applicants – in

the national language and English. Clear and reasonable deadline – at least 2 months. Selection criteria, scoring chart – Selection Committe Activities, focus and expected outcomes Size of the project grants (min/max) – Co-finanancing Which expenditure are eligible

Possible to opt for a overhead of up to 20%.

Projects – Reglur um opinber útgjöld

National and European Union law on public procurement shall be complied with at any level in the implementation of programmes and projects.

A Project Promoter that receives 50% or more … as a project grant … shall conduct its procurement in compliance with the national public procurement law … This also applies to project partners.
