Definition Coriolis Force
u “An apparent deflection of the path from an object that moves within a rotating system”
u Definition by Gustave-Gaspard Coriolis (1835)
INSA 16 / 14
Coriolis Force Example
u In the inertial frame of reference the black object moves in a straight line.
u However, the observer (red dot), who is standing in the rotating (non-inertial) frame of reference, sees the object as following a curved path due to the Coriolis and centrifugal forces present in this frame.
INSA 17 / 14
Coriolis Effect Demonstration
u No flow: hose is in balance
u Flow: out of balance (distortion of the hose) causing a phase shift between in- and outlet.

mini CORI-FLOW Pump-control
u mini CORI-FLOW directly operating (speed controlled) pump
u Using internal fast unfiltered sensor signals results in very
fast control loops to enable highly stable and fast response flows
u stable up to <0.1% of desired flow
Features:
- No pressurized vessel needed with problems of gas dissolved in liquid
- Continuous flow control in Mass and Volume
- No external PID-controller required
- Exact filling and dosing using speed controlled pump
- Flow is independent of process back pressure
- Stable pump control also in low flow range
- High rangeability (up to 1:2000, depending on sensor and speed control)

CORI-FILL® with Shut-off valves
u Fast (up to < 0.5 sec. dosing time)
u Adaptive overrun correction
u Optimal accuracy after a few batches
u Adjustable correction factor for faster or slower overrun correction
u Cost effective
INSA 32 / 14
CORI-FILL® with control valves and pumps
u “First time right” batch due to flow and batch control (no overrun correction needed)
u Suitable for longer dosing times (> approx. 3 seconds)
u Also usable for pump control
u Adjustable P-action on batch counter
u Programmable controller options
u Example: dosing 100 gram
when 90% of the required batch is reached the valve slowly starts close. Last drops are dosed at 2% setpoint to achieve the optimal accuracy
