Health and Safety• JAPS and AJS will have our own
transport and MO’D will accompany any child first to the resort doctor and then if required to Edolo (30 minute drive) to a hospital. Teacher first aiders accompany the trip and Adamello will also provide a first aider for the races.
• All schools will need to take photocopies of children’s European heath cards and ensure that their school insurance fully covers the trip.
• The children are at high altitude where the sun is strong so they have to apply sun creams regularly even on overcast days.
Training before the trip
• Children should try to do some light fitness work before the trip. Tummy muscle work is especially helpful and any core body development (pilates type exercise) is helpful. Dry slope skiing will be available for those wishing to train before the race on Saturday 5th and 12th March at Gillingham.
Evening Events
• Sunday • Sledging at Passo
• Monday • Quiz Night at Dolomiti
• Tuesday• Disco at Mirella Hotel
• Wednesday• Film Night
• Thursday • Gala Dinner at Mirella Hotel and
Award Ceremony
Food and Money• Family run hotels are the best because
whilst there are set menus the staff are happy to make whatever the children like to eat.
• Breakfast is continental: bread rolls, jams, cold meat, cheese, boiled eggs, cereals, yoghurt, hot chocolate and juices.
• Lunch is two courses at the hotel. It will be pre-arranged with the manager but will be simple and may consist of pizza, soup, sandwiches and hot chips, or pasta and a dessert.
• Dinner is three courses and will consist of an antipasta (mainly vegetables/pizza slices), then a second course of pasta or soup, then a main course of lasagna, or schnitzels, chicken or pork.
• The manager has stressed that he wants to feed the children whatever they want.
• It is full board but children should bring about 25 Euros for visits to the Spa and to buy a souvenir perhaps.
• The Hotel charges for bottled water so children should order jugs of water.
