DearParents,
ItiswithlightnessinmyheartthatIwritemyinsertforthenewsletterthisweek.ThelearnersofBryanstonPrimarymademeaveryproudPrincipalovertheweekendatourSoccerandNetballTournament,notonlywiththeirpositiveattitudeonthe
eldsandcourts,butalsotheirsportsmanshipandthefriendlyengagementwithourvisitingschools.
TherearemanypeoplewhoIwouldliketothank:
TheGradeSevenlearners,whowerepleasedtoassistwheneverandwherevertheywereneededontheday.
Allourparentsforallowingtheirchildrentobepartofthetournamentandthewonderfulsupportwereceivedfromyouinsupportingourchildrenandassistingatthestalls.
MrsBarnardandherteamfromtheBFC:yetagain,welldoneonasuperbjobofprovidingthiseventwithdeliciousfoodfromearlymorningandcleaningupuntillateonSaturdaynight!Yourtimeandthecommitmentshowntotheschoolbythewholecommitteeisappreciated.
TheorganisingcommitteeandtheSGBmembersfortheirhoursspentbe -
forehandandbeingreadilyavailableonthedaytoanswerquestionsandassistparents.
MrsPaulaAgar,fornewideas,theprintingoftheprogrammesandorganisingthebrandingtoassistwithcommunicationtotherelevantschoolsandsponsors.
MrsPippaHuntforarrangingwonderfuldonationsfromagroupofgeneroussponsors.
Mydedicatedstaffwhoworkedsohard,fromcoachingandscorekeepingtosellingtokens,andlookingafterourvisitingprincipals:youareappreciatedfortakingcareofourchildren,andthehoursyouputintomakeasuccessoutofaneventlikethis.
Thesportsdepartment,foralltheirhardworksettingupourTournament.AspecialthankstoMissNHartandMissJLesterfororganisingtheprizegivingandtheirhardworkthroughoutthetournament.
Mrs.Lutawanfortakingchargeofsomanyaspectsregardingthisevent. TheFinanceDepartmentforensuringthatthetokenswereready,Snapscanwasorganised,andforallthecountingofthemoneyreceived.
MrHartandhisgroundstaffteam,forsettinguptheeldsandcleaningupbefore,duringandaftertheevent,youhavedoneverywell!

WhatsAppcanbeawonderfulcommunicationtoolwhenusedef-fectively,andat BryanstonPrimarywe encourageparentsto joingroupswithotherparentstosupporteachother.
Thisisparticularlyusefulifyourchildisapartofasportsteam,asyoucansharescoresandarrangetransporttoassisteachotherwhereneeded,andquicklyadviseeachotherofchangesinxturesorgametimes,etc.However,wehavenoticedaconcerningtrendofsomeparentsusingWhatsAppgroupstobashtheschoolanditsstaffiftheyhaveanissuethattheyfeelisnotbeingdealtwithadequately.
Pleaseremember:ifanissueisbeingdiscussedsolelyonWhatsAppwithoutourknowledge,wecannotevenbe-gintoworkwithyoutoaddressit.
Weaskthatifyoudohaveamatterthatyouneedtodiscusswiththeschool,pleaseraiseitwithususingourcommunicationchannelsbeforestartingatopicaboutitonWhatsApp.

Unfortunately,wehavefoundinsomeisolatedincidentsthatwhereaparenthasnotcontactedtheschoolorhasnotclariedanissuebuthasstartedatopicaboutitonaWhatsAppgroup,thesubjectquicklyescalatesandrumoursbegintoswirlmanyofthemunfoundedandexaggerated.
Again,pleasecometousdirectlyandaddressanyconcernsbeforeraisingtheminaparentgroup,whereno-onehasthepowertohelpyouandtheissuecanbecomeevenmoreproblematic.
SECURITYWeareawareofandaredealingwithasecurityincidentthathap-penedattheschoolearlierthisweek.Wehavespokentothechildrenoftheparentsinvolvedandthematterisinhand.
However,wewouldliketotakethisopportunitytoremindparentsofourschoolsecuritymeasures:
AnyparentcomingontothegroundsduringschoolhourswillberequiredtosigninwithsecuritybeforeproceedingdirectlytoReception,whereyouwillbeassisted.
Anysupplier entering the schoolgroundswill besignedinandaccompaniedbyastaffmemberatalltimeswhileonthe
grounds.
Nochildmayleavethepremisesduringschoolhourswithoutanotefromreceptionandaccompaniedbyanadult.
Bryanston Primarys parking is on public property, and al-thoughwehavesecurityguardsonduty,wecannotcovertheentirearea.Weaskparentstobevigilantaboutlockingtheir
vehiclesbehindthem,asunfortunatelycarjammingisarealityanditisdifcultforustosecuresuchalargepublicparkingspace.
