Welcome to the Teacher Talent Team and thank you for considering this exciting and innovative career option. The Talent Team is a new concept for Birmingham and different model for teacher employment. The world of education is changing and there has never before been so many kinds of career futures for teachers in Birmingham. The Talent Team experience will help you identify the kind of future that suits you and actively position you for success.
On the programme you will find yourself working within a team of like-minded, vibrant, self-motivated and adventurous colleagues at up to five different schools in a variety of contexts and locations in the Birmingham area.

PartnershipSupported by Birmingham City Council Schools HR, the
Birmingham Education Partnership (which is chaired by
Baroness Morris), the Teaching Schools and Educate, the
Teacher Talent Team is an exciting and unique employment
and career management programme for talented teachers
seeking to broaden their experience and secure their future
career goals.
PermanenceIt is a three year programme, during which you will
be permanently employed on the Team at a pay point
determined by the statutory teachers’ pay and conditions
and will reflect your level of experience too. You will have
the opportunity to work up to five differentiated rotations
within predefined schools in Birmingham.
Challenge and VarietyEach rotation is designed and managed by designated
schools within the Teaching School Alliance to give you
exposure to a particular teaching context. Together these
placements will provide you with both breadth and depth
of knowledge about today’s varied education landscape
and equip you with the skillset you need to become a highly
versatile teaching professional.
Career ManagementDuring the programme you will have access to your own
personal career agent from Educate for termly career
coaching, counselling and planning, and as a supportive
point of contact during each placement.
Induction and CPDAlthough you will be working at different schools, you will
have the opportunity to meet your colleagues on the Talent
Team across the city at regular intervals starting with a

dedicated induction day when the career management
programme will be fully outlined and you will undertake
a current skills audit. This will be followed by regular
CPD days, in addition to those provided at school level,
to encourage you to share and learn from each others’
experiences, and to enhance the skills you need to fulfil your
career aspirations.
Retention Incentives on Programme CompletionAfter three years, you will have condensed into a relatively
short period of time all kinds of teaching experience
in all kinds of schools and this gives you several career
advantages. In addition, as a reward for completion of the
programme you could have:
• A fast track into management or senior practitioner
• Your pick of permanent available employment within
participating schools
• Funding for further study
• A retention incentive on completion of the programme

Accommodation in Birmingham
• A typical family-size semidetached house in
Birmingham costs £163K, whilst flats can be had
for £115k.
• Typical rental costs would be £400-£600 PCM for a
2 bed, £700-£900 for a 3 bed and £800+ for a 4 bed.
• We will help you find your footing if you are considering
moving to Birmingham for the first time, with liaison
and admin fees taken care of with our preferred
accommodation agency and support to establish
your family in jobs or education.
Connectivity in Birmingham
Connectivity just gets better and better in Birmingham with
a £4 billion investment in a new network of rapid transit
buses and trams improving travel across the city, and
development of New Street station. The High Speed 2 (HS2)
