Your Club needs new
Committee Members
As you’ll see from the above we have two important vacancies to fill on our Committee, Secretary & Officer for Officials. Our Club needs new members to join the Committee to keep it going. If you and your children enjoy Little A and would like a stronger say in how our Club is run then one of these may be the roles for you. The key responsibilities of the roles are detailed below. Secretary (a)Give notice of upcoming Committee meetings (b)Compile agendas for Committee meetings and take & distribute minutes of the meetings. (c) maintain and handle a file of correspondence in and out (d) keep on file, all material that may assist the organisation of the Club’s activities;
(e) file all results of athletic competitions conducted by the Club; (f) act on behalf of the Club as directed by the Executive; and (g) assist Committee members as required.
The Officer for Officials (a) ensure that all parent helpers sign the Helper register before going on the field (b) help coordinate a pre-season training session for parents on how to help at events (c) coordinate helpers out on the field so all events are covered (d) report to the Executive on the availability and standard of officials and submit a list of officials present at Championships; (e) be responsible for the organising of officials for attendance at Zone, Region and State Championships. No one on our Committee works alone. There will always be someone to offer help or to talk things over if you choose to take these roles. If you are enthusiastic about getting all our parents out helping on the field then Officer for Officials may be for you. This is a key role in ensuring we have coverage for our events on a Saturday morning and at Carnivals. Our Secretary role currently comes with an Assistant Secretary so there is already someone to share the load with! If you are passionate about ensuring that you and your family can get the most out of their time here at Ryde then please consider joining the Committee. As someone who has spent three years on the Committee I can say that it is a great Committee who are interested in making the Club as good as it can be and the Little Athletics experience a great one. If you are interested in finding out more then please email our Club President Ron Daniel at
Do you need a Baby sitter? Need a night out? 17 year old experienced babysitter, great with children, especially little athletes! Reasonable rates. Please contact Maddy on 98765063 or [email protected].

My last Footprint After 49 editions of Footprint it is time to hand over to a new Publicity Officer. Over the past three years I have tried to make our newsletter a more regular, more colourful and bigger feature in our member’s homes than in has been in the past. It’s covered all the major carnivals, records, blue patches, state, national and international representation as well as examples of some good old fashioned friendships and club spirit. I’ve tried to include our Seniors as well, as Ryde is first and foremost, an athletic centre that caters for athletes from Tots to over 70’s. Thank you to all my regular contributors with the camera. I hope that you’ll keep up the contribution with our new Publicity Officer, Peter Davis. You can look forward to his first edition later this year. I will miss being involved as much in the Junior Club but haven’t moved too far away as I have joined our Senior Club committee as their Publicity Officer! Louise Bergfield
