DIRECTOR’S BIO
Jon Lawrence Rivera most recently directed and conceived Road to Saigon at East West Players, Jacques Brel… at the Colony Theatre and Luis Alfaro ‘s Oedipus El Rey at the Theatre @ Boston Court. A four-time Ovation Award nominee, he is the founding artistic director of Playwrights’ Arena where his productions have garnered over 100 local and international awards.
PLAYWRIGHT’S BIO
Plays include: Surf Report (La Jolla Playhouse), Hold Please (South Coast Rep, Globe Theaters, New York’s Working Theatre, others), Be Aggressive (La Jolla Playhouse, Dallas Theatre Center, Chicago’s Rivenden Theatre, Theatreworks, others; Finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize). Musicals include: The Essential Alice with composer Michael Friedman (La Jolla Playhouse commission), Times Square with composers Jill Sobule and Robin Eaton (NYSF/Public Theater commission). Workshops and developmental readings include: Mark Taper Forum, Manhattan Theatre Club, Geva Theater, Trinity Repertory and Actor’s Theatre of Louisville. Publications include: Smith and Kraus’ Best Plays of 2001, Vintage’s Under 30: Plays for a New Generation and Dramatists Play Service. Grants/Residencies: NEA/TCG grant, Sundance Institute, Ojai Playwrights Festival. TV includes: Desperate Housewives, Dead Like Me, Inconceivable, Heartland, The Cleaner, Samatha Who? and Eastwick. Writers Guild and Dramatists Guild member. Graduate of Williams College.
