MORI
Thanks to technological development, Mori products are consistently at the cutting edge of battery charger technology. You benefit directly from the higher reliability and efficiency that this technology delivers. With a traditional Mori battery charger you also benefit from an exceptionally good warranty.
BATTERY CHARGERS
Quality and safety firstSince 1985, the Mori family has specialized in the manufacturing of high-quality battery chargers. In 1994, this was recognized by the award of ISO 9002 quality certification. Almost all parts are produced under the same roof, ranging from the machine-folding of the casings and the winding of the transformers to the assembly of the chargers into a finished product. This ensures the highest level of quality control.
Mori – specialized in the development and production of both conventional and high-frequent chargers, from large to small.
Service friendlyThe chargers in the MDA, MGX, PSW and Extreme family have a memory which registers the most important parameters of the last 22 charging cycles. This includes the number of cycles, the voltage and current at the beginning and at the end of the charge, capacity and an error and stop code.
As all the answers are stored in the memory of the charger, you never have to ask questions about the machine’s history to the customer. Even when the mains voltage breaks down at night, or the client disconnects the machine while charging, you won’t miss a single significant detail!

The main benefits of “HF” chargers at a glance:
■ Weight and volume is much lower (impact on installation and transport costs).
■ Flexibility of installation (switchable charging curve, e.g. conventional/gel).
■ Only a few types needed, thus easier for the after-sales service (the installation engineer always has a charger with him: problems are solved more quickly because only one service call is required instead of two).
■ Does not require supply voltage calibration (works at least from 200 V to 265V at 100% power, without any fluctuation)
■ Lowest possible electricity consumption combined with positive effect on battery life (double savings).
■ More modern, more intelligent and greater elegance. ■ Nearly all “HF” chargers are equipped with a fan for efficient
cooling. ■ Some “HF” chargers can charge a variety of battery voltages
(e.g. MultiPac).
ROUND IN-BUILT INDICATOR

POWERFINNSPECIFICATIONS HIGH-FREQUENT CHARGERS
Powerfinn is a Finnish company that specializes in developing and manufacturing battery chargers and power supplies, which utilize high-frequency technology. The company was established in 1989 and is part of the Micropower group. Powerfinn applies the latest available technology in all stages of product development and stands among the leaders in its field. When this is combined with creative design, the goal of producing “the ultimate equipment” is brought as close as possible. Switching technology is utilized in the realization of the products. This offers remarkable advantages in relation to traditional equipment: the benefits of high power and efficiency are attained in addition to low weight and compact size. The use of high-frequency technology together with intelligent development and surface mounted components make the extremely high power/size relation possible. When this relation is considered to be the yardstick of competence, Powerfinn can be said to be a forerunner in its field. Apart from the high power/size relation the products of Powerfinn are also competitive because of their versatility. Many of them can be connected to a PC to allow a higher level of control over the battery charging process. All of the chargers are microprocessor controlled. This ensures their extreme accuracy and battery friendly function.

BATTERY CHARGERS
CHARGERS
CHARGER TECHNOLOGY - CONVENTIONAL VERSUS HIGH FREQUENCY
Which charger is the best? This depends on the application, your budget and the desired efficiency. When it charges a battery, the charger draws electrical current from the mains and supplies it to the battery. However, various losses arise during the transformation process:
■ Power factor: this is an expression of the relationship between the total absorbed power and the power effectively used by the charger. This will typically be about 90% for “OK” and “HF” chargers, but it falls to only about 55% for “GK” chargers. There are also “HF” chargers with an A-PFC circuit (Active Power Factor Correction) that reach 100%. Large industrial electricity consumers are often charged on the basis of the power factor, and indeed “GK” chargers use almost twice as much electricity as effectively supplied to the battery.
■ Efficiency: during the conversion from supply voltage to the battery voltage energy is also lost in the form of heat. The greater the efficiency of the charger, the less loss there will be. “HF” chargers reach ± 92%, “OK” chargers ± 87%, and “GK” chargers ±85%.
■ Intelligence: When a battery is overcharged a lot of energy is lost in the form of heat. Intelligent charging curves accurately determine how much energy a battery needs, and stop the main charging process at the right moment. Overcharging also reduces battery life.

What are the differences?A transformer is required for reducing the higher mains voltage to the low voltage needed by the battery. Mains voltage arrives via the power plug at a frequency of 50 to 60 Hertz. At these frequencies the transformer needs a large iron core wound round with copper wire. A battery charger that uses a transformer of this kind with an iron core is known as a conventional or ferro-resonant charger.
■ The charging current of an unregulated charger (an “OK” charger) depends on the supply voltage. This is why these batteries have to be calibrated during installation, when the mains voltage is different from the nominal voltage.
■ In regulated chargers (a “GK” charger) a current control device automatically compensates for any swings in supply voltage. This control has other advantages as well, such as the ability to generate a variety of charging curves.
■ A high frequency charger (an “HF” charger) contains additional components that first convert the mains voltage to a much higher frequency (e.g. to 100,000 Hertz). The conventional transformation process takes place in the second stage, but at such high frequencies the transformer can be much smaller and needs only a small ferrite core, and far fewer windings.
■ The picture shows you the difference between a conventional transformer and a high frequency transformer of the same power class (600W).
