PrefacePreface
The Learning Composite Mathematics series (Books 0 to 5) is an exclusive course for classes Pre-primary to V meant for CBSE schools and all schools of other Boards following the latest NCERT syllabus based on the National Curriculum and the guidelines provided therein.
The content is student centered and activity based laying the utmost emphasis on developing problem solving skills, encouraging the child to think creatively and work independently. The methodology facilitates the teacher, student and the parent to ensure full involvement of child in classroom and at home.
All the mathematical concepts are presented in a very simple and encouraging form introducing the concepts by using motivating scripts and stories based on everyday life and daily experiences. The examples and problems also make use of modern tools, gadgets and technology commonly used.
The approach of the authors has been designing the instruction in such a form that may create passion for mathematics in children rather than fear. It encourages them to enquire, explore and discover rather than learn by force.
Abundant use of visual tools such as diagrams, illustrations, cartoons, tables and charts would make learning fun and would help greater retention.
A unique feature of the series is the framing of separate sets of questions under the caption to reinforce the understanding and help the child to master the new concepts.
given at various places point out the common mistakes and warn them against committing them themselves.
have been incorporated at the end of the book.
The new model of teaching methodologies, content and introduced by CBSE has been religiously followed and adhered to in the
revised series. The two preliminary pages outlining briefly the structure, patterns, style and strategy will give the learned principals, teachers, students and educators an idea of what this series aims to offer in its thoroughly revised version.
We are grateful to the CMD, Mrs. Nirmala Gupta, the Joint Managing Director, Mr. Himanshu Gupta and other directors, the CEO and Executive Director, Mr. Amit Gupta, the Executive Vice President, Mr. Navin Joshi for their motivation to take up this project and continuous support. Thanks are also due to Mr. Amit Goel, the Sr. Manager (S & CS).
Our thanks are due to Mr. Shishir Bhatnagar, Manager (Pre-press), Mr. Yogendra Pal Singh (Asstt. Editor), Mr. Ajendra Negi, Mr. Dhan Singh and Mr. Pradeep Joshi for taking immense pains and seeing the books through various stages of preparation and printing.
For more than 40 years, we have been setting trends in bringing unmatched content and pioneering Maths books for Indian Schools. It would not have been possible without the support of teachers and students.
Suggestions and feedback for continuous improvement of this newly introduced series would be most welcome from all the Principals, Teachers, Students and Parents.
