THE JOYFUL NOISE, “WE ARE ONE” CAPITAL DISTRICT – The Joyful Noise was a contemporary Christian music ministry well known in the Capital District re-gion and beyond, during the years of 1969-1993. The Joyful Noise was a large group of young people, led spiritually and musically by Mr. Bill Womer. The Joyful Noise was the core of what would later evolve into “Christian Music Ministries”. The positive side of social media, as well as the unfortunate pass-ing of key members, has stirred interest in a reunion of The Joyful Noise, with the recognition, that still, “We are One”. A reunion is planned for October 10, 2015 focused on reunit-ing and catching up. The reunion will culminate with a bar-beque dinner and an evening Praise and Worship service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Many of the songs spanning three decades when young lives were forever impacted by this experience will be sung together again. We will also be including all the parents and family members in the Satur-day night service who supported each of us during our “JN” years. During these early planning stages we are interested in help locating former members, and identifying folks to assist on various committees that have been formed. Please visit the Facebook page for Christian Music Ministries if you are a former member and want to connect, or contact us at [email protected]

Tyke
Charlotte
11 Babies of Love
Say hello to Charlotte, A twelve week old hound/bulldog mix. She loves attention and is a typical
playful puppy. She would be great for an active fam-ily with lots of kids and a fenced in yard. She loves
kids and other dogs to play with. She is vet checked, has two sets of shots, de-wormed and more.
Tyke has kind of a funny story on how he was rescued and I am so glad that we did. He is absolutely wonder-ful. About two weeks back we received an email with pictures of dogs that needed rescue from a kill facility
in the Carolina’s. In the way corner of the picture there was this dog with his head tilted asking “What about me?” Something just tugged at my heart strings and I
called facility to ask the story on the Brown and White dog. They said his time was almost up and heneeded
rescue. He was a bigger puppy about 4 months old and was brought in by Animal Control. I knew we had to save him. We payed for his vetting and transport and he is here now at the shelter safe and sound. Please come and meet him. He is adorable, wondeful and
would make a great addition to any family.
These puppies and their mama were taken in by a wonderful
woman who kept them safe until we could arrange for transport. She is keeping the mom and the babies have all been vet checked,
de-wormed and have received their age appropriate shots. They are
9 week old lab mixes and they all have wonderful personalities.

It is pretty hard to accept that summer is about over when we’re having this kind of heat isn’t it? Still and all, September is here and it is time to start taking care of season task in spite of what the thermometer is looking like. One little task you need to do this time of year that can make a huge difference to the health and vigor of your lawn for years to come. I consider this task to be THE most important aspect of lawn care and it is also the one that most folks blow off for some reason. I’m talking about performing some pH tests on your lawn. Checking your soil’s pH will let you know if you need to apply lime (pulverized limestone) to counteract acidity and it will also let you determine how much you need to apply. I think most people blow this important step off because it sounds complicated or “scientific” or perhaps they feel that they’ve done enough for the lawn once they’ve applied their grub control and fall lawn food. I’m here to tell you that, if you never check your soil’s pH and correct it, your lawn will eventually thin out, moss will start to take over and you’ll be off to buy moss killer and more and more lawn food to try to restore it. On the other hand, if you DO keep the soil’s acidity level near neutral, moss won’t take over and you’ll need less lawn food to have the nicest lawn in the neighborhood. Liming is inexpensive and is the “ounce of prevention” that can save you a lot of money and frustration over the years. Here’s the deal: Over time ALL soils gradually become acidic. Rotting grass clipping, leaves and other organic debris contributed to soil acidification. Even the lawn foods that you put on the lawn helps increase the soil’s acidity level over time. Acid rain has a hand in the process as well. Acidification happens more quickly in sandy soils than in clay based soils. Acidification of soil is a natural process and many plants actually prefer soil that’s slightly acidic. Unfortunately grass isn’t one of them. As the soil becomes more acidic, the bacteria and other microscopic organisms that dwell in the soil start to die off. These are the organisms you grass needs to convert naturally occurring nutrients (or nutrients that you apply in the form of lawn food) into forms that your lawn’s roots can absorb. Acidity also impedes osmosis or the ability of the lawn to absorb moisture and nutrients from the soil. If you’ve ignored soil pH for several years, you may have the impression that your favorite lawn food isn’t working as well as it used to. This is due to increased acidity of the soil. You’ll probably find that, if you correct the pH of the soil, you’ll not have to feed you lawn as often. But why, you may ask, is it so important to apply lime in the fall? Why not wait until spring? After you’ve applied the proper amount of lime, it will take at least two months for the lime to react with the soil. By applying lime in the fall, you’ll give it all winter to have a chance to react with the soil. You could wait and apply it in spring but you won’t get the benefit from your application until halfway through the growing season. If you’ve never applied lime to your lawn before, I’d recommend that you test and apply lime this fall and then test the soil again in spring to make sure you’ve gotten the correction you needed. Those of you who cleverly avoid raking fallen leaves in fall by mowing them into the lawn with a mulching mower should be aware that your lawn will become acidic more quickly. Regular pH testing and more frequent lime applications will be necessary to keep your lawn thick and healthy. Generally, once you’ve corrected the lawn’s pH, you shouldn’t need to apply lime for three to five years depending on your soil type. Considering how important, easy and inexpensive maintaining proper soil pH is, I’m amazed at how many people ignore it. Thanks for the read.

NOVENA PRAYER TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN (Never known to fail). Oh, most beautiful flower of Mt. Carmel, fruitful vine splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me, herein you are my mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to answer me in this necessity. There are none that can withstand your power. Oh, show me herein you are my mother. Oh, Mary con-ceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3x). Holy Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Sweet mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Holy Spirit, you who solve all problems, light all roads so that I can attain my goal, you who gave me the divine gift to forgive and forget all evil against me and that in all instances in my life you are with me, I want in this short prayer to thank you for all things as you confirm once again that I never want to be separated from you in eternal glory. Thank you for your mercy towards me and mine. The person must say this prayer 3 consecutive days, after 3 days the request will be granted. This prayer must be published after the favor is granted. Favor granted. S.W.
DEAR HEART OF JESUS In the past I have asked for many favors, this time I ask you for this very special one. Take it Dear Jesus and place it within your bro-ken heart where your father will see it. Then in your merciful eyes, it will become your favor, not mine. Amen. Say this prayer for 3 days, promise to publish it and your favor will be granted. S.W.

INSPECT TIRES BEFORE
FALL ROAD TRIPSRoad trips are an autumn tradition for many people. Excursions to see the fall fo-liage can be awe-inspiring, but drivers must make sure their vehicles can handle such jaunts.
Tire inspections are essential before hitting the open road. The following are a handful of steps drivers can take to ensure their tires are up to the task of fall road trips.
• Give tires the eye test. The eye test can be an effective and quick way to detect tire dam-age. Uneven wear may be indicative of insufficient tire pres-sure or an alignment problem. Uneven wear also may indi-cate the vehicle is experiencing problems with its steering or suspension. But many times uneven wear can be remedied by a simple tire rotation, so take your vehicle to your mechan-ic if you notice uneven wear.
• Look for stowaways. Uneven wear is not the only thing driv-ers can detect with their eyes. In the course of your travels, your tire might have picked up a few stowaways, such as nails and screws that are poking into the tire. If you find any freeloaders, take your car to your mechanic, as your tires may need to be replaced.
• Look for cracking or bulging treads. Cracking or bulging treads or sidewalls can eventually cause a blowout, which can put you and your fellow road trippers in serious jeopardy. Cracked or bulging treads or sidewalls indicate tires are worn or weak, so bring your car to your mechanic for an inspection if you discover such problems.
• Perform the penny test. The penny test can help motorists determine if tire treads are worn. To perform the test, insert a penny with Abraham Lincoln’s head pointing upward into the tread. If the tread does not reach the top of Lincoln’s head, your tire’s treads are worn.
• Check tire pressure. Right before you pack up the car to hit the open road, check each of your tires’ pressure, making sure the pressure in each tire is at the level recommended in your owner’s manual. Inflating tires to the proper pressure takes just a minute or so, but that minute can protect you and your passengers while also saving you money at the filling station.
Properly maintained tires can go a long way toward ensuring the fall road trip season is a success.
