MEMORANDUM FOR United States Corps of Cadets, West Point, NY 10996
SUBJECT: Corrections/Supplements to USCC SOP Chapter 12 (BAG)
1. General. This memorandum supplements and provides corrections to the policies listed
in the USCC SOP Chapter 12 (BAG). This will be running document for all regiments
throughout the year. Changes are effective immediately.
2. Pillow. Pillows will be folded in half, in line and centered with the head of the bed, the
fold facing away from the foot of the bed. See Enclosure 1 for clarification.
3. Display of Civilian Clothes. First class cadets are authorized 8 hangers of civilian clothes
in their wardrobe. Civilian clothes will not be hung up in the coat closets except for 2 civilian
coats hung at the end of the wardrobe. Second class cadets are authorized 4 hangers of
civilian clothes, Third class cadets are authorized 2 hangers of civilian clothes, and Fourth
class cadets are not authorized to display civilian attire.
4. Headgear. For both semesters, the order for the display of headgear from left to right will
be: White hat, Gray hat, Parade hat from left to right in that order. The ACH is no longer kept
in the wardrobe, but in the Bed Locker.
5. Green Girl. All cadets will neatly fold and display their green girls at the foot of their bedswith the single fold facing the head of the bed. See Enclosure 2 for clarification.
6. Black Fleece. The Black Fleece will be hung up in between the gortex jacket and the black
parka. The Black Fleece will only be worn when announced and will not be used as
an outer garment for AFC or White over Gray. However, use of the Black Fleece is
authorized with Cadet Casual. See Enclosure 3 for clarification.
7. Bed Configuration. There are only two authorized bed configurations: a single bed with
only one remaining adjustment level or bunked with two adjustment levels showing. See
Enclosure 4 for clarification.
8. Bed Lockers. The following standards outline the authorized use of bed lockers:
a. All TA-50 items must be secured either in a trunk room locker with a lock or
stored inside and at the head of the bed. This includes the MOLLE Ruck, FLC, and
ACH. All MOLLE gear (such as magazines, blank adaptors, etc.) must be stored
inside the ruck. If stored inside and at the head of the bed, the ruck sack is placed
against the head of the bed and the FLC is wrapped around the ACH. IBA is either
placed under the ruck or next to the ruck. The assault pack is place next to the ruck.

No loose TA-50 items are authorized in the bed locker. They must be stored either in
the assault pack or the ruck. If TA-50 is stored in the trunk room lockers, the COC
must ensure that all TA-50 is properly secured. See Enclosure 5 for clarification.
b. Any item typically stored underneath the old beds (such as skiis, snowboards ,
musical instruments, etc.) must be stored in the bed locker.
c. The rest of the space may used for the storage of miscellaneous items. These items
must be stored in a neat and professional manner (i.e. folded or stored in a piece of
luggage). This includes all civilian shoes other than the two stored in the coat closet.
d. One combination master lock is authorized to hold the bed closed, however. Locks
will not be locked on the bed locker unless over Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Spring
leave.
e. The bed locker is inspectable during AMI but will remain closed unless being
checked.
f. Since the mattresses are approximately 8 inches longer, the yellow band along the
short side of the grey blanket will be displayed at the foot of the bed.
g. Enclosure 5 illustrates the aforementioned points.
9. Shoes. The following standards will be adhered to in regard to the placement of issues
shoes typically stowed at the foot of the bed:
a. When the beds are not stacked, shoes will be stowed in their traditional location at
the foot of the bed. Combat boots will be placed closest to the foot of the bed with
low quarters and pumps placed next to them accordingly.
b. When the beds are stacked, shoes will be stored in the wardrobes. Combat boots
will be placed on the left side of the wardrobe, toes flush with the front edge of the
wardrobe. Low quarters and pumps will be placed to the right of the combat boots,
toes flush with the front of the wardrobe.
c. Shower shoes will still be stored in the right rear of the wardrobe as per the USCC
SOP.
d. For rooms with more cadets than bureaus, the remaining sets of shoes will go
inside the bed at the foot.

10. Nametapes. Name tapes must be placed in the following locations:
a. Corner of desk either closest to the door/center of room or facing the door/center of
room, corner of the bookshelf closest to the door/center of room, head of the bed,

upper right corner of medicine cabinet, rifle rack, wardrobe, top right of the bureau,
and on the door.
b. The nametapes on the wardrobe and rifle rack must be trimmed to fit the width of
the shelf.
c. Enclosure 7 details these changes.
11. Sabers. The saber handle crest must face the inspector. See enclosure 8 for clarification.
12. Athletic Locker Requirements.
a. All cleats must be stored on top of locker, laces tucked in (storage of running
shoes on top of locker is optional).
b. One towel folded in thirds with fold facing to the right (as you stand facing the
locker).
c. Toiletries against right side top (limit 6). These items must be displayed so as to
not detract from a military appearance.
d. Any additional items (such as drying items, a luffa sponge, etc) must be organized
and not detract from a military appearance or general cleanliness.
e. Nametape must be centered on the top edge of locker.
f. Enclosure 9 details these changes.
13. Boodle Box. All food must be stored in a boodle box (metal or plastic sealable cover).
Storing food in mail packages is not allowed due to the demands for general health andwelfare. Boodle boxes may be stored in the overheads or in the bed.
14. Books. Books must be displayed vertically, pushed to the rear of the bookshelf, arranged
in height descending order from either left to right or right to left depending on the side of the
bookshelf being utilized. Bookends must be used as the free ends of rows. Binders, spiral
notebooks, and other study materials can also be placed horizontally on the bookshelf. These
items however, must be organized and not detract from the rooms military appearance.
15. BAG Drawer. Only the top drawer will be used. The following items must be displayed
at all times: black leather gloves, Chapel Belt or Red Sash(1st Class), white gloves, Ammo
Box or Saber Belt (1st
Class), breast plate, white collars and cuffs (pair), black scarf. Refer toEnclosure 10 for arrangement details. Number of each item displayed will be uniform in the
room. Displaying more than one of each item is allowed as long as it does not detract from
the military appearance of the drawer. All other drawers must however, be organized and
clean (ie neatly placed, folded, and clean items).
16. Luggage. All luggage must be stored either in the overhead storage or in the bed.

17. Medicine Cabinet. The display of the Tumbler is not required. If tumbler is displayed it
must be thoroughly cleaned and have no streaks or smudges. All other requirements found in
the USCC SOP must still be adhered to.
18. Wardrobe Drawers.
a. Bottom wardrobe drawer is used to store inspection ready ACU items. ACU jacket
will be displayed on the right and ACU pants will be displayed on the left with Patrol Cap
centered above the pants and jacket. Refer to enclosure 11 for SAMI drawer layout.
b. Extra and miscellaneous ACU items are to be stored in miscellaneous bureau
drawers or in the bed.
19. Wardrobe Uniform Display Change. Display of long sleeve AFC shirt is optional
during the winter season. If displayed, it is to be placed after (ie to the right of) the short
sleeve AFC shirt.
20. Lockbox. Lock boxes may be placed on the bookshelf. At minimum, a lockbox mustalways be locked when not in use with a high quality key or combination lock.
21. Tape. Masking tape may be used to post schedules, phone rosters, buff cards, etc on wall
closest to the window by the individual’s desk . Blue sticky adhesive may also be used.
22. Flags. Flags are authorized for display. However, all flags must be approved through the
immediate chain of command and must be professional and not detract from a military
appearance. For example, the American flag, a national flag, a “Don’t tread on me” flag, anArmy flag, or a state flag would meet this professional criteria.
23. Printers: In order to increase the amount of desk space available, printers may be placed
on the floor, under the desk. Placement of printer must not detract from the militaryappearance of the room.
