The good-looking Canadian withthe languid drawl has thought outsidethe box and found fresh solutions toold playing problems by designing aseries of transformations tomouthpieces, a revolutionaryadaptation to the neck of thesaxophone - The Ultimate Sax Neck -and practise aids for brass instruments.

Terry explained: “I cut the neck ofthe saxophone and reinvented it as amodular system, much like theWarburton backbore mouthpieces forbrass and woodwind. The new neckdesign makes the instrument soundmore in tune and facilitates bettercontrol. Every musician who has triedit for five minutes wants to buy it.”

Terry’s career started as atrumpet player but, by the age of 24and with a thriving retail businessto his name, he had ventured intomouthpiece design and production.

The Warburton mouthpiecesystem enables the player to choosethe optimum combination of rimdiameter, cup style and depth, andbackbore, enabling them to fittogether a mouthpiece that will bestbalance sound and resistance withtheir instrument. The systemcomprises interchangeable top andbackbore sections, and the backboredesigns complement the cupshapes, providing furtherfine-tuning sound benefits.

Terry also manufacturesthe P.E.T.E. (PersonalEmbouchure TrainingExerciser) for developing astrong embouchure. The P.E.T.E.directly targets the exact musclesthat tire toward the end of aperformance – those that preventthe lips from falling into the
