Sailing in
Spain
A great opportunity to enjoy exciting sailing and
sun on the Costa Blanca!
Based in Calpe on the Costa Blanca, Real Club Nautico Calpe (RCNC) has 6 identical 28’ keelboats
(TOM 28) which are mostly used for fleet racing but can also be used for fun day sailing.
In association with the Costa Blanca Yacht Association (CBYA), RCNC are now offering the opportunity
to sail or race these boats to sailors from outside the region.
Packages can be for sailing only or include both cost of sailing and accommodation at a local hotel.
Ideal for a great weekends sailing getaway during those drab winter months in Northern Europe.
Induction on boat rigging and handling will be provided by RCNC/ CBYA sailing instructors in English
Prices can be as low as €69.80 (approx. £60) for a 2 night/2 day sailing weekend excluding flights.
Bookings are arranged on a per boat basis requiring a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 people
sailing.

The exciting Tom 28
The Tom 28 is one of the most exciting and
highly respected Match Racing boats used
on the international circuit.
Obtaining the best performance from the
Tom can be technically demanding for the
experienced sailor and for the less
experienced racer it is forgiving allowing
each individual to sail at a level suiting their
own experience. For those wishing to race,
knowledge of racing rules is required.
Currently there are active Tom 28 fleets in
Spain and the USA. It is the official boat of
the Chicago Match Race Center (USA) and
the Valencia Match Race Academy (Spain)
The Tom has been used as a training boat for
some of the America’s Cup teams
A superb sailor combining the feeling of being on a
bigger faster yacht and the dexterity / handling
associated with a performance dinghy. The Tom
keeps a good balance responding well to varying
wind conditions particularly gusts.
The Tom provides excellent feel on the helm via the
sensitive and responsive rudder.
Encourages crews to use knowledge and expertise
in regards to trimming, sail setting, maneuvers and
race tactics.
Offers great equality in performance at regattas
where 6 boats are provided by the RCN Calpe
Sailing Center.
The Tom provides enjoyable gratifying sailing for less
experienced crews who may also wish to improve
their experience on a performance match racing
boat. It can be sailed comfortably as a large
dinghy.
