YOUTH MOVES REPORT
EXTRAVAGANZA
A "sell out". Teachers, chaperones, volunteers and participants worked so hard to make this event a
huge success. We will be paying for Youth Moves memberships out of some of the profit and other
profit will go towards buses and outfits for Panorama, etc.
SOUTH WEST KFA DANCE FESTIVAL AND NATIONAL AGM
Christine and Janet honoured to have been invited to take their Youth Moves to perform at this
event in October.
RED ROSE SCHOOL
Janet has been approached by Red Rose to start an after school dance club on Fridays - this will
commence in February.
FUNDRAISING EVENT -Janet is hoping to put on a show with stalls at Park View in
March/April.
SPECTRUM DANCE
The team are working towards performances in the Pulse and The Gala in Durham in March.
THE DURHAM SHOPPING EXTRAVAGANZA
We are absolutely delighted to have been presented with a cheque for £1,000.00 from The Durham
Shopping Extravaganza. This is through Lavinia Nicholson who attends Christine's keep fit classes
and who is on their committee. To date, they have helped 91 charities and have raised £420,500.
It is fantastic that they are supporting our Youth Moves and Young Adults. It was also amazing for
one of their committee members to come and personally present the cheque at one of Christine's
classes.

bill III III pe stress your day - the easy wayrelaibalance Stress has an accumulative effect, like
water dr'PPin9 into a 9|ass< so jt isimportant to learn strategies that help
numOP vou 'empty the glass ' every day, andstop it overflowing.
1. Be time affluentDedicate at least 15 minutes of your day to something that you activelychoose to do rather than something that needs to be done. It couldbe reading a good book OR pottering in the garden OR cooking ORanything that gives you joy. This brings a feeling of calm contentmentbecause it feels that you have enough time for activities that arepersonally meaningful.
2. Laugh every dayLaughter triggers the release of the happy chemical dopamine, whichacts as an antidote to stress hormones. Spend time with people whomake you laugh OR watch 'Have I got News for You '
3. Do a good deedDo something nice for a friend or stranger as this is recommended oneof your1 5 a day1 for positive mental health.
4. Breathe betterPut your left hand on your chest and your right hand on your belly.Inhale for a count of two, exhale for a count of four, then pause for acount of four before repeating.Try to focus your mind on the feeling of your breath going in andout of your body.Do this for 5 minutes twice a day
5. Exercise30 minutes of moderate exercise increases your resilience to stress forseveral hours afterwards. For best results, get outdoors and active in apark or near water.
6. Worry wellSet aside 15 minutes a day to specifically think about your worries.Separate your worries into two lists - one of things that you can dosomething about (list A) and one of things you can't (list B)Think of practical strategies for dealing with list A, and tell yourself to letgo of list B
