Five Ways FFA Shapes Student’s Futures
Source www.blog.ed.govAgricultural education and FFA have long been
essential parts of our nation’s career and technical education system. It’s only fitting during National CTE Month to celebrate how FFA and agricultural education play a crucial role in defining a student’s path toward new and significant achievements. One of the best lenses to look through to see this
CTE impact is through the students elected by their peers to represent FFA on a national scale. Annually, FFA members across the country gather to select the National FFA Officer Team. These six FFA members reached their level of leadership through academic success and dedicated personal development in their local FFA chapter activities and agricultural education classrooms. The 2018-19 class of National FFA Officers who
serve as the face of an FFA organization with more than 670,000 members is no different. Here are the five ways they feel FFA and agricultural
education has helped shape their paths:See FFA B4
Governor Ted Strickland is no stranger to Sandusky County. He has visited the county many times during his two campaigns for Governor; he carried the county in 2006 and he was narrowly defeated in Ohio in 2010. He lost Sandusky County that year by 65 votes. He returned several times to the county during his race for U.S. Senate in 2016 which he lost to Senator Rob Portman. Strickland told The Hub “I feel very comfortable in Sandusky County and always enjoy coming back to visit.”On February 13 Strickland
attended a fundraiser for Chris Liebold - the lone Democrat in the 88th District Ohio House race. Chris is presently serving on Fremont City Council, a December 2019 law
school graduate from the University of Toledo and working in the law offices of Albrechta & Coble. He also serves as chairman of the county’s Democratic
Party.According to Liebold
“I look up to Governor Strickland…like him I am from a rural area of Ohio and like he did, I want to represent our small and rural areas.” Chris also adds “the Governor got us through the great recession and steadied Ohio’s economy.”When The Hub asked
the former governor why he decided to take time to campaign for Liebold, Strickland stated “When I was a young man, like
Chris is now, a lot of people helped me. It is my turn to help others…Chris reminds me a lot of myself when
I was his age.” He continued with “It is important to get young people involved in public service – they bring forward new ideas.”See Liebold Page B8

Richard Stegman Staff ReporterThe Hub has had the opportunity to feature each of
the candidates for the 88th District Ohio Seat. The final candidate for us to feature is the life-long resident of the 88th District, Ed Ollom. Bellevue’s mayor, Kevin Strecker, was invited to have lunch with Ollom at Twin Lakes. The Hub was invited to join them. Also attending was Ollom’s campaign manager, Dave Thornberry. It should be noted that Mayor Strecker has endorsed
one of Ollom’s competitors in the race - Gary Click. However, the Mayor welcomes to Bellevue all candidates, regardless of party and his endorsement (or not). He suggests that as the Mayor of Bellevue, it is in the best interest of the city for him to meet with and develop a rapport with all candidates. And it seems the candidates desire to meet the Mayor, again regardless of who he has endorsed. See Ollom Page B8
