AEM publishes study results that make significant
contributions to applied microbial research, basic
microbial ecology research, and genetic and molecular
investigations of microbial topics of practical value.
The journal sheds new light on key microbiological
principles, fundamental microbial processes, and basic
questions in applied and environmental microbiology.
Its original research articles not only build on our
understanding of microbiology but also enable
scientists to advance their own investigations, design
new products, and develop new processes.

Genome Announcements is an online-only, fully
open access journal that publishes short manuscripts
announcing the availability of recently sequenced
genomes of prokaryotic and eukaryotic microbes and
viruses in public databases. These announcements
inform readers of the availability of new genome
sequences and provide the rationale for sequencing
a particular organism, as well as details of the
methodologies and protocols used in assembly of the
genome sequence.

MMBR keeps researchers current with the latest
developments in microbiology as well as related
fields such as immunology and molecular and cellular
biology. The journal explores the significance and the
interrelationships of the latest discoveries that build
our understanding of bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungi,
and other higher eukaryotes. Review articles enable
both non-specialists and specialists to understand the
state of the science and apply the latest findings to

MCB is dedicated to disseminating new findings
and advancing new research that contributes to our
knowledge of the molecular biology of eukaryotic
cells. Examining both microbial and higher organisms,
the journal showcases significant discoveries in cellular
morphology and function, genome organization,
regulation of genetic expression, morphogenesis,
and somatic cell genetics. The journal also examines
viral systems, publishing papers that emphasize their
impact on the cell.
