We control every step of the process.
Arauco is the leading forestry company in South America and one of the world’s largestforest products companies in terms of plantation holdings, kraft pulp, lumber, and panelproduction. This accomplishment has been achieved through its extensive forestresources, extensive industrial facilities within Chile, Argentina and Brazil, and through its world-wide sales offices located in Europe, Asia, México, Perú, Argentina, Brazil andthe United States.
Forestry Resources
Arauco owns and manages 1,873,000 acres of plantations across South America. Ourvast, fast growing timberlands give the company important competitive advantages intoday’s demanding global market for wood products.
Environmental Protection
All of Arauco’s production facilities and timberlands are managed in an environmentallyresponsible manner which acknowledges the critical importance of Sustainable ForestManagement and its impact on future generations. All of Arauco´s forestry activities have been ISO 14001 certified and our plantations arecertified under the CERTFOR standard, which is homologous to the PEFC standard.
Nursery
Arauco has made major strategic investments in forestry research in order to maximizethe quality, productivity and yield from its plantations.Arauco´s laboratories, nurseries and greenhouses experiment with technologies to makeimprovements that are applied to the more than 45 million seedlings planted each year.
Sustainable Plantations
Aware of the long term importance of its timberland resources, Arauco follows asustainable forest management policy. This policy ensures that Arauco will always havea reliable, high quality wood fiber supply for its high quality products.
Plywood Mills
In 1995 Arauco decided to enter the Plywood manufacturing business and beganconstruction of a new plant, which started production in 1997. Located in Arauco’sHorcones Industrial Complex, panels are produced in different grades for appearance, structural, forming, and multipurpose uses for many diverse applications.
Towards the end of 2000, a second production line was added to the Horcones millwhich increased total annual capacity to 356.000 m3.
In 2003, Arauco started construction on a new plywood mill located in its Nueva Aldeaindustrial-forestry complex in Chile’s VIII Region. Capacity will be 210.000 m3 per yearin its first stage. The plant started operations as planned in November of 2004.
Versatility
The use of AraucoPly is limited only by your imagination. It is equally suited to
exterior and interior applications, from road signs to furniture and an entire spectrum
of manufactured items. Strong, durable and cost effective, it is an ideal solution for
a wide range of applications.
AraucoPly panels are laid up with phenolic resin, providing exceptional strength,
adhesion and moisture resistance.
Strength
Strength coupled with light weight is obtained thanks to the attributes of Arauco´s
improved, plantation grown Radiata Pine wood.
AraucoPly manufacturing uses the latest available equipment and technology in
peeling, drying, composing, pressing, trimming and sanding of plywood.
Light Uniform Color and Easy Workability
AraucoPly offers the highest level of workability on the market, lower weight, lower
wood resin content and better machinability.
Solidness and light color of faces makes it ideal for staining and other surface
finishing.
High Quality
AraucoPly consistently exceeds industry quality standards for plywood manufacturing.
Our panels feature composed cores, with minimal core gaps and overlaps and high
quality face veneers with minimal repairs. All sanded panels are finished with a 150
grit sanding for an extra smooth face.
AraucoPly is manufactured with limited
core gaps and overlaps, making it ideal
for the toughest of industrial situations.
It is well suited for truck bodies, trailers,
decks, pallet bins and other applications
where safety and strength are important
AraucoPly is also available as a
premium siding and beaded panel.
Whether it is construction of walls or
ceilings, perhaps the creation of a piece
of furniture, AraucoPly not only offers
the highest-grade face but also has the
added benefit of being structurally
sound plywood. Main Beaded uses are
for interior paneling, wainscoting and
porch ceilings. AraucoPly decorative
panels also perform well in exterior
non-exposed applications since they
are constructed with phenolic resin and
meet PS1 criteria for exterior plywood.
AraucoPly is the fast, efficient and
durable solution for sheathing, roofing
and flooring needs, staircases and
interior fitting, for residential timber
frame construction as well as industrial
structures. Its inherent strength and
rigidity provides maximum bracing and
also makes it a stable subfloor for
quality interior finishes, such as
ceramic, tile and parquets as well as
vinyls and carpets. It also provides a
strong, stiff and lightweight support for
construction formwork. Whether with
clear or regular solid faces, it is a
convenient solution for concrete
forming walls, floors, roofs, frames
and civil engineering structures.
IndustrialApplications
considerations. The clear, solid faces
make it also ideal for high-pressure
lamination.
Siding andBeaded Panels
ConstructionApplications
AraucoPly is manufactured from
intensively managed plantation grown
logs that are pruned to maximize their
yield of high grade veneers. These
veneers are used in the production of
paint grade and stain grade panels for
the furniture, cabinet and DIY industries.
