AquaTower-HowitworksAquaTowerisatall,straightconstructionwhosepowersystemisbasedonthenaturallawsofthermodynamics.

Itisisoptimizedforfewdimensions.Thesmallestonepresentedhereisnonethelessatallconstructionwithaheightanddiameterof645respectively145meters.TheonlyinputtoAquaTowerisseawater(andwasteheatforincreasedefficiencyofexistingthermalpowerplants).TheelectricityproductionHot,dryairentersthroughtheintakes22,itpassesthroughtheDeLavaltaperingat23andreachesthewaterspray-andcoolingnozzlesystem24atthetopofthetower.Heatedairalsoflowsfromthetopofthetower1tothesprayedwaterzone24.Theprayedwaterat24createsacoldzonemakingthehotairfrom22and1torushto24.Whenthesprayedwaterandairmix,thecondensed,nowcolder,airfallsinsidethetower(downdraft)atveryfastspeeds.Therushingairpowerstheturbines25whenitreachesthebottom.Waterproduction–VacuumThedownflowingairinsidethetowerincreasesevenmoreinpeedthroughDeLavaltaperingat21whichcausesanegativepressure(<0.5bar)at2.Thethroatsection2isconnectedtothewaterdesalinationchambers26and27throughthepipes3and5.Adjacenttothechambers26and27istheseawaterchamber10receivingwaterfrompipe12.Thewateratseawaterchamber10isheatedfromthewasteheatsource13(optional)throughtheheatexchanger14astoapproximately500C.Thewaterinchamber10isalsoheatedfromtheConcentratedSolarPowerSystem1throughpipe6.Fromseawaterchamber10theheatedwaterflowstothevacuumchamber26throughpipe28.Thepipe28passesthroughaliquid/electricheatexchanger8,heatedbytheConcentratedSolarPowerSystem1(duringnightsorifAquaTowerisnotconnectedtoawasteheatsource13).Theseawaterissprayedatthevacuumchamber26andevaporatesrapidly.Freshwaterchamber27whichisconnectedtovacuumchamber26ishasthesamelowpressureaschamber26butiscooledbytheheatexchanger17whichinturniscooledbytheAquaTowerscoldandmoisthighspeedairfromtheturbines25.Becauseofthecoldertemperatureatchamber27,thehottervapouratchamber26willconsequentlyrushtofreshwaterchamber27whereitcondensesduetothecoldertemperature.Thehighlysaltconcetratedwater(thebrine)fallsnaturallydown15inchamber.Brineispassed-offfordisposalprocessing.Waterproduction–ReverseOsmosis
