OFF YOU GO!!
Think about the process…
1. Map
2. Instruction sheets
3. Symbol cards
4. “Codes” - Answers
5. Water-soluble markers
6. PowerPoint Slides for the lesson
1. Get a school map- Simplify the map such that only
items/locations that the kids need
are on it. (Can be done as you do
the next step.)- Indicate North on the map. (Need
not be the real north.)
2. Identify a starting point- Find a starting point that will be
easy for kids to start off such as an
open space.- From the starting point, look for
obvious spots for clues . (Use spots that you can easily plan the routes.)
3. Planning of routes- Plan different routes leading to the
same locations.
To avoid everyone running in the
same directions.
To prevent herd syndrome
4. Form clues- Give only easily solved clues- Confine locations to a manageable
area for safety reasons and
keeping the task to a reasonable
lesson time.
4. Come up with all the possible
answers
5. Laminate all the clue cards and
letters (to re-use in future).
1. Put up the laminated symbols only on the day itself before the lesson.
2. Conduct a pre-activity briefing informing pupils of the task, rules of the game and safety rules.
3. Do a demo practice in class to give the class an idea of what to expect.
