Antireflective and Easy-to-Clean Technology Enhances Contrast Ratio and Color Gamut of Displays in Outdoor Ambient Conditions

The CIE color gamut of Corning® Gorilla® Glass with Antireflective and Easy-to-Clean Technology is approx 3X greater than untreated displays in ambient sunlight. In outdoor lighting conditions (e.g., partially sunny day or overcast day) ambient reflections at the various layers below the cover glass can grossly reduce the color gamut of a display. An ideal display module with Corning’s Antireflective and Easy-to-Clean Technology can restore much of the display’s color gamut in bright outdoor conditions.

Chemically-resistant, Wear-resistant and Environmentally Robust Hydrophobic CoatingAfter extreme exposure to sweat, salt mist, high temperatures, and humidity cycles, Corning’s Antireflective and Easy-to-Clean Technology demonstrates high optical transmission, low haze, and high hydrophobicity.
After 95 hours of continuous wiping (~520k wipes) with a denim cloth under a 1kg load, Corning’s Antireflective and Easy-to-Clean Technology maintains high hydrophobicity and optical clarity. Assuming the average user wipes their device 20 times per day, these results suggest the coating could survive 71 years of daily wiping.
