Information contained in this item that will be useful for my topic:
This book contains chapters on the established performance practices of the Lute andVihuela, in their various iterations and speaks on its uses in many countries during the
same time frame of my paper. It also addresses problems that the established
performance practice gives its students, while also showing how some of these issues
have been phased out by modern instruments from the same chordophone family. Manyof the chapters also verify the same historical information I have found in other of my
sources.

This book contains instructional information to performing on renaissance style lute
instruments. It includes a lot of insight on the methods of playing a lute, allowing me to
compare these methods to those used in performance of other plucked string instrumentsof the time. The lute technique presented in this book is not a modern one, so it presents
its information based on the principles set during the renaissance.

This book contains an expansive section on the women of Renaissance Spain mainly
talking about the discrepancies exists between educational theory and musicalpractice. Many examples are given on how the most notable male writers of the time
believed women had no place in the extensive study of music. The source shows that
even the higher class society found women to be out of place as musicians and believed itwas a bit demeaning. The chapter of this book talks about the instruments women did
perform on, including the lute and vihuela, and highlights some of the female virtuoso
performers of the time.
