Amadeus Fares and Pricing Solution
Journey, Class, Time, Day, Event: So Many Different Fares. How do you stay ahead?
No two journeys are the same. That means no two fares are the same. The Amadeus Fares and Pricing Solution enables you to price and manage your fares on a daily basis, responding to market conditions and driving marketing campaigns. That’s how you stay ahead.
Step One: Straightforward fare structure
The Amadeus Fares and Pricing Solution supports a Basic Fare structure
based on four types: market, distance, zone and event. The Basic
Fare is the foundation of every journey. You can then apply Pricing
Rules that take into account your restrictions and travel conditions to
create the appropriate price for your customer. Basic Fare updates are
automatically applied in real time, ensuring immediate, maximum
revenue generation.
Step Two: Sophisticated pricing rules
Pricing Rules take Basic Fares to the highest level of flexibility.
A unique fare basis code identifies each rule. Rules can be based on
any itinerary criteria including seasonality, advance purchase, blackout
periods, day of week, time of day, stop over, discount code, travel trade
organisation, one way/round trip, train, carrier, station, class and
passenger type. Updates to pricing rules create new rule instances that
allow modifications to be easily made and tested without affecting
current live instances. The Amadeus Fares and Pricing Solution allows
for both public and private rules, allowing you to control which Pricing
Rules are available to travel trade organisations and which can be
viewed by all users.
Step Three: Easy to integrate and always in use
Like all Amadeus Solutions, our Fare and Pricing Solution seamlessly
integrates with the Amadeus Rail IT Product Suite and can also
interface easily with other ticketing systems that have a standard API
through a web service, shared memory or file based FTP. We know your
system needs to be constantly up and running so we’ve ensured that
you can test fare or pricing rule changes before going live, without
disrupting sales. Once it’s live, your new rule will apply automatically
to all bookings made. OPS staff can easily update fares or pricing rules
in a live environment while retaining all historical fares, allowing you
to prepare in advance short term seasonal or event based changes and
change Pricing Rules whenever you want.

Amadeus Fares and Pricing Solution Benefits at a Glance
Basic Fares > Supports four fare types: market (point to point), distance based, zone based and event based. Any combination of these fare types may be used.
Pricing Rules > Allows maximum flexibility. Restrictions can be based on seasonality, advance purchase, blackout periods, day of week, time of day, discount code, travel trade organisation, one way/round trip, rounding, train, carrier, station, booking class, and passenger type. A fare basis code uniquely identifies each pricing rule.
Instances Changes > Once a fare or rule update is initiated, a new basic fare or pricing rule instance is created. All the basic fares and pricing rules from the previous instance are copied to this new instance, allowing modifications to be made easily and tested without affecting current live or historical instances.
Test Releases > Allows fare or pricing rule changes to be tested against production data before going live. Once testing is complete, the live release will then apply to all new bookings created.
