First General Meeting
On Friday September
2nd, ALPFA held its first gen-
eral meeting where over 100
new students attended. The
first meeting was initiated by
Paola Lacouture, ALPFAs
president, mentioning the
agenda of the meeting andlater introduced Gabriel
Freitas.Gabriel Freitas is a
member of the Student Gover-
ment Association (SGA) who
came to ALPFA to talk about the event Open for Business, which will be held
Thursday. From there Kevin Zamora took the stage to talk about the Ahead of
the Game,which will be held on September 29, 2011. Ahead of the Game is anevent where firms come to
recruit the most enthusiastic
students. Make sure you have

shiny to impress the firms that

Summit. The Finance Su-
mmit will be a panel of
finance professional whe-
re students can ask them
questions about their pro-fession or the recruitment
process. Camila Barranco
followed afterwards to talk
about the payment pro-
cess as well as the up-coiming fundraiser. Natalia Cabanillas later came on to talk about the com-
munity service ALPFA will participating in honor of the tragic event that oc-
cured a decade ago on September 11th. Mendy Chow then gave an informa-
tive speech about how the point system works and how it can benefit you.
Carlos Quijano, the webmaster, followed to talk about his committee and
how you can join. Jose Mortimer shook the audience with his energetic per-
sonality to join us at the social after the meeting. To finalize the meeting
Daniel Zamora gave an informative speech about the interviewing process.

After the general meeting was
over, Grant Thornton took the
stage. They filled the air with ex-
citement as they were setting up.
Speakers were erected and a
game show podiums were set up
on stage. Beta Alpa Psi also joined
ALPFA where the room was over
populated with students. As every-
one settled down one of Grant
Thorton representatives took the
stage and started the presentation. Mitch, one of the senior managers at
Grant Thornton, spoke about the firm and the recruitment process. After beingbombarded with questions from students Grant Thornton hosted a game
show. The auditorium was broken into four groups and among those groups
they had to choose a representative. In conlusion, team 2, All Star team won
with a total of 575 points.

Fundraiser
ALPFA will soon be doing its first fundraiser thanks to the treasurer,
Camila Barranco, and the restaurant Moes. On September 17, we will be
hosting the event Fill that tummy up where we can participate together with
friends and family. Just bring the flyer given to you so a percentage of the
food you buy with your friends can be donated to ALPFA. Moes is located
near international mall at 10660 NW 19th St. This will an event that will start
at 4PM until 8PM .

ALPFA and Beta Alpha Psi would like to cordially invite you to our biannual

Last Fall, more than 30 firms and companies participated in Business Industry
Night and Firms Night, and more than 200 students were in attendance repre-

Next Meeting
Next meeting will be at the same place RBD 1100 on September 9 at
6PM. The guest speaker will be Dawn Lazar that you will talk about building
your resume. After the general meeting Prudential will be doing a presenta-
tion for the finance majors in the Ryder buidling RB120. On the other hand,
PWC will be giving a presentation for accounting majors in RBD 1100.
