A TRIO of Adelaide sisters isgoing to be serenading AliceSprings with their folk popthis weekend.

Georgia Germein and theGermein Sisters are going tobe at the Rock Bar on Satur-day night and will be playing amixture of originals andcovers.

Georgia, 20, came to AliceSprings last year for theMusicNT InTune conferenceand was inspired by the town.

She said: ‘‘I’d only beenthere when I was really young,so I didn’t really remembertoo much.

‘‘When I came for InTune, Ithought the town was reallycool and found some reallycool venues.

‘‘My sisters and I are in themiddle of a national tour andwe didn’t want to miss out onseeing the NT — we’ve justdone a bunch of shows inQueensland and WesternAustralia.

‘‘After these shows we’ll begoing to Melbourne, then offto Ireland to record our firstalbum before touring Canadaand Europe.’’

Georgia and her two oldersisters, Ella and Clara, startedplaying music together pro-fessionally after Georgia leftschool two years ago.

She said: ‘‘I grew up withmusic all around me.

‘‘Both of my sisters weremusicians and we all loveddoing it, so we decided to forma band together.

‘‘We just do our own thing —we don’t try to sound like

anybody. Some people havesaid we sound like The Corrsbecause we’re a sibling bandwith a pop/folk sound.

‘‘We started playing classi-cal music when we were kids,but then moved on to otherinstruments and styles, which

I think contributes to oursound.’’

While the girls play originalmusic, they also have somecover songs for people to singalong to.

‘‘We have everything fromFleetwood Mac to Katy Perry

and U2,’’ Georgia said.

‘‘I’ll also be playing some ofthe music from my solo albumwhich I released in 2010.’’

Georgia Germein and theGermein Sisters will be at theRock Bar from 9pm Saturday.

MC Jayson saidhe’ll be putting hisskills to good use onSaturday night.

He said: ‘‘It’s been alittle while since we’vebeen to the Alice, butwe’re going to put onour best show.

‘‘There are a lot ofkiller tracks on thenew R’n’B Superclubalbum and I’ll bedoing a bunch of hypestuff while DJ DefRock mixes up sometunes.

‘‘In the past, AliceSprings has reallyloved more of the old-school stuff, so we’llsee how we go.’’ TheR’n’B Superclub willbe on at the JuicyRump this Saturdayfrom 10pm.

Two rappers fromMelbourne hip-hop out-fit Renovator’s Dreamwill be feature artistsfor the Alice SpringsDesert Music Club.

Julius Seizure (akaJulien Cleary) lives inAlice Springs and spoketo the Centralian Advo-cate this week.

‘‘Our first live showswere in 2004 in Mel-bourne and we werethis big, six or seven-piece funk/hip-hopband,’’ he said.

‘‘I started (writing)when I was interestedin graffiti art and thenmet a bunch of peoplewho were into hip-hop.It was probably at theend of high school whenI started writing, whichwas 2001-02.’’

He said Renovator’sDream had received

airplay on Melbourneradio and on nationalyouth station Triple J.

‘‘We played at placeslike The Evelyn andThe Espy in Melbourneand I had some reallygood mates in a reggaeband we toured with.

‘‘I’ve kept a bit lower aprofile since being inAlice Springs, but I’vedone some poetry slamsand got up at the DesertMusic Club.

‘‘One of the guys fromRenovator’s Dream,Antics, is coming totown this weekend.

‘‘We met back in 2002and have been workingtogether ever since.

‘‘Since I found out hewas coming to AliceSprings, we’re going tobring out some of ournew material and thendo some improv beats.’’

The Alice SpringsDesert Music Club is onat the Todd Tavernfrom 7pm Monday. En-try is by gold coin.
