Event Registration Number (Foreign Born/Foreign Owned Dog)
For the purpose of entering CKC events to obtain Championship status and Obedience Titles and Degrees,
individual registration is no longer required for foreign born, foreign owned dogs. Foreign exhibitors may apply
for an ERN (Event Registration Number). This number MUST be applied for within 30 days of entering first CKC
event to avoid cancellation. Exhibitors may submit a photocopy of dogs’ foreign Registration Certificate and the
appropriate fee ($59.40 Canadian Funds) along with a letter of request to the CKC. (This ERN number replaces a
CKC Individual Registration Number for entering CKC events ONLY.)

Border Crossing
Government regulations require that to be brought into Canada a dog must have a Rabies Certificate. The
certificate must be dated at least 30 days prior to re-entry in to the United States.
CONFORMATION CLASSES
The following Regular CKC Classes (divided by sex) will be offered.
JUNIOR PUPPY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog 6 mo. of age and under 9 mo. of age on the
day of the show
SENIOR PUPPY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog 9 mo. of age and under 12 mo. of age on the
day of the show
12 to 18 MONTH CLASS – This class shall be for any dog 12 mo. of age and under 18 mo. of age on the
day of the show.
CANADIAN BRED CLASS - This class shall be for any dog born in Canada. (Champions of any
country excluded) BRED BY EXHIBITOR CLASS - This class shall be for any dog owned and handled in the ring
owner/breeder. The handler MUST be the owner/co- owner AND breeder/co-breeder of the dog. The owner/breeder must handle the dog at the class level, but need not handle the dog for further awards
OPEN CLASS - This class shall be for all dogs
SPECIALS ONLY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog which has a recorded CKC Registration or Event
Registration Number and has attained the required points for Championship status. Note: A Listed dog MAY be moved to the Specials Only Class after the closing of entries, provided the CKC
Individual or Event Registration Number was received prior to the first day of the show. The request to move a
class dog to the Specials Only Class MUST be received by the Show Secretary ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE OPENING
OF THE SHOW ON THE DAY CONCERNED. Listing Fees WILL NOT be refunded
NON-REGULAR CLASSES
NOTE: Any dog entered in a Non-Regular class MUST also be entered in a regular class or for Exhibition Only on
the same day
BRACE CLASS - This class shall be for two dogs of the same breed (not necessarily of the same sex)
BABY PUPPY CLASS- This class shall be for any dog 3months of age and under 6 months of age on the day of
the show. The award for this class are: Best Baby Male, Best Baby Female, Best Baby Puppy in Breed, Best
Baby Puppy in Group, Best Baby Puppy in Show (This class will be held on completion of Best Puppy in Breed,
Best Puppy in Group and PRIOR to Best Brace in Show)
EXHIBITION ONLY - All dogs entered in this class shall be listed in the catalogue with the same particulars as
dogs entered in regular competition. Dogs entered in this class MAY NOT COMPETE in any Regular class but
may enter and compete in Non-Regular classes and/or Parades ONLY
ALL BREED JUVENILE & VETERAN SWEEPSTAKES
Saturday – October 14, 2017 @ 12 Noon
Juvenile Sweepstakes Judge: Val Mackie
Entry Fee: $15.
Eligibility:
The Sweepstakes are open to all dogs and classified as follows:
Baby Puppies: Male and Female (3 mos. To under 6 mos.)
Junior Puppies: Male and Female (6mos. to under 9 mos.);
Senior Puppies: Male and Female (9 mos. to under 12 mos.); and
Juvenile Puppies: Male and Female (12 mos. to 18 mos.) as of October 14, 2017.
All entries must also be entered in a regular breed class on the same day.
For the purpose of judging, the First Place winners from each class will be brought together for the final
placements of First, Second, Third and Fourth.
Prizes: Rosettes will be awarded to First in each Class and a ribbon will be awarded to Second to
Fourth in each class.
Final Placements
1st in Sweepstakes = rosette & 30% of the total fees collected.
2nd in Sweepstakes = rosette & 20% of the total fees collected.
3rd in Sweepstakes = rosette & 15% of the total fees collected
4th in Sweepstakes = rosette & 10% of the total fees collected.
25% of the fees will be retained by the Club to defray expenses.

All dogs handled by juniors must be entered in one of the regular classes, or for Exhibition only, on the
day, but need not be owned by the junior or his/her family. Registration will be posted in the judging
schedule.
Junior Handlers with the exception of PeeWees, must apply to CKC Head Office on the appropriate form
for a Junior Handling Number within 30 days of competing in their first Junior Handling event.
Only complete entries accepted. The Alberni Valley Kennel Club offers rosettes for Best Overall Handler
and first in each class. Ribbons for 2nd through 4th are offered. Participant ribbons will be given to all
Peewee entrants. Prizes offered for First in each class and Best Overall

The Alberni Valley Kennel Club would like to invite breeders and/or breed club members to present their
dogs to the public at our annual dog show. The event will take place Friday, October 13, 2017 in the
show rings of Glenwood Center, after Best in Show. It will run from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
There is no cost to you. We will supply you with a banquet table and chairs for you to use.
This forum is open to the general public at no cost and has been very successful in the past of attracting
people interested in purebred dog breeds including exhibitors at the show.
Aspiring judges will receive a proof of education form.

CHAMPIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS
SECTION #1. A dog awarded WINNERS at a Championship show held under these Dog Show Rules shall be
credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0 to 5), and the determination of the number of
championship points to be credited to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as provided hereunder.
SECTION #2. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated a dog
awarded WINNERS shall be as follows;

To determine the number of points earned by a dog awarded Winners, total all dogs in competition which were
defeated, directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Winners, Best of Winners,
Best of Breed or Best Opposite Sex and then consult the schedule set forth above. The point system provides for
additional points if a class dog awarded Best of Breed also places in the group as listed below;
A class dog awarded Best in Show at an all-
breed Championship show will be credited
with 5 points inclusive of any points earned
at the breed or group level. In counting the
number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog
that is disqualified or that is dismissed,
excused or ordered from the ring by the
judge, shall not be included in the calculation
for championship points (Absentees are not
to be included). In order for a dog to be
recognized as a Canadian Champion it must:
(1) earn at least ten championship points
under at least three different judges; and (2) be individually registered in the records of the CKC or have a CKC
Event Registration Number (ERN)
15.2 Grand Champion (GCh) (47-06-12)
15.2.1 The title of Grand Champion may only be earned after the completion of the CKC Conformation
Championship.
15.2.2 Points for this title are only accumulated after the completion of the Conformation Championship and do not
include the points earned in attaining the Conformation Championship. All required points are to be earned at the
breed level.
15.2.3 To be awarded a Grand Champion title, a dog must attain a minimum of 20 points which must include one
Best of Breed and a minimum of two wins of at least two points each.
a) Grand Champion Point System
Points towards the Grand Champion title are awarded to the Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Select Dog and
Select Bitch. Points are calculated based on the number of animals competing at the breed level for the Best of
Breed Winner and the number of similar sex dogs competing for the other three (Best of Opposite, Select Dog,
Select Bitch). The following schedule shall be employed in the determination of points awarded as follows:
In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered
from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for Grand Champion points.
15.2.4 The title of Grand Champion shall not be awarded retroactively and all points towards this title must be
achieved after the date of January 1, 2013.
15.2.5 Points earned toward the Grand Champion title are to be recorded by the owner/handler on the form
obtained from the Canadian Kennel Club. Once the owner/handler believes that their exhibit has attained the

requirements for the Grand Champion title, the form may be submitted to the Canadian Kennel Club for
verification and awarding of the title.
15.3 Grand Champion Excellent (GChEx) (48-06-12)
15.3.1 The title of Grand Champion Excellent may only be earned after the completion of the CKC Grand
Championship title. 15.3.2 Points for this title may be accumulated at any time after the completion of the CKC
Conformation Championship and do not include the points earned in attaining the Conformation Championship.
15.3.3 A minimum of 100 points which must include one Best in Show or a Best of Breed at a Breed National
Specialty (where a minimum of ten dogs have competed) or a Best in Multiple Breed Specialty with at least three
breeds represented plus three group firsts or three Breed Specialty wins.
a) Grand Champion Excellent point system
1st in Group or Best in Specialty Show 5 Points
2nd in Group or Best of Opposite Single breed Specialty Show 4 Points
3rd in Group 3 Points
4th in Group 2 Points
(Note: no points are acquired if no other dog is present in the group)
Best of Breed 1 Point
(To earn the breed point, at least 5 dogs must be shown at breed level)
Best in Show or Best in National Specialty Show or Best in Multi Breed Specialty Show 10 Points
15.3.4 Only the highest points earned at a single show are carried forward. For example, a dog that wins First in
Group and then wins Best in Show, earns 10 points, not 15.
15.3.5 Additional Requirements
The dog must have been awarded a Grand Champion title before being awarded a Grand Champion Excellent title.
15.3.6 The title of Grand Champion Excellent shall not be awarded retroactively. However, dogs that have been
awarded the Grand Champion title prior to January 1, 2013 will be awarded the Grand Champion Excellent Title on
application to the CKC.”
15.3.7 Additional Requirements
To attain a Grand Champion Excellent title a dog must have been awarded a CKC performance title from any CKC
event. A CGN or Herding Tested Certificate are not considered performance.
RULES GOVERNING THESE SHOWS AND TRIALS
THE CLUB RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANY PERSON FROM THE SHOW. THE SHOW
SUPERINTENDENT SHALL HAVE FULL CONTROL OF THESE SHOWS AND TRIALS, WHICH WILL BE
GOVERNED BY CKC RULES.
ANY DOG EXCUSED BY THE SHOW SUPERINTENDENT OR VETERINARIAN FOR ANY REASON SHALL NOT,
COMPETE IN ANY CLASS FOR ANY AWARDS FOR THE BALANCE OF THE SHOW.
THE SHOW COMMITTEE WILL USE DUE CARE AND DILIGENCE FOR THE WELFARE OF DOGS AND

DOGS MUST BE ON THE GROUNDS 1 HOUR PRIOR TO THE JUDGING OF THEIR BREED.
THE OWNER OF A DOG ENTERED IN THESE SHOWS IS ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ERROR IN
ENTERING HIS/HER DOG REGARDLESS OF HOW OR BY WHOM ENTRY WAS MADE
EXHIBITORS AND HANDLERS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR DOGS AND EQUIPMENT LEFT AT THE
SHOW GROUNDS.
OWNERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEANING UP AFTER THEIR DOGS.
ANYONE FOUND DISCHARGING WATER ON THE GROUNDS FROM THEIR RECREATIONAL VEHICLE WILL BE
REMOVED BY ORDER OF THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT, AND MAY BE SUBJECT TO A FINE.
IF, BECAUSE OF CIVIL DISTURBANCE OR OTHER ACTS BEYOND THE CONTROL OF THE CLUB, IT IS
IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN OR COMPLETE THE SHOW, THERE IS NO REFUND OF ENTRY.
DOGS MUST BE ON LEASH AT ALL TIMES ON THE SHOW GROUNDS OR WITHIN THE SHOW BUILDING
Glenwood Center will be open Thursday after 4:00 PM or after completion of ring set up. Only club
members and people helping with set up are allowed in the building before 4:00 PM
ALL EXHIBITORS, HANDLERS AND PATRONS ARE EXPECTED TO KNOW AND ABIDE BY THE CKC DOG SHOW RULES
RV PARKING
These parking spots are in the parking lot to the east side of the building. Reservation not required.
No Power: $15. Per day/night.
With Power: $25. Per day/night
All overnight vehicles parked behind the SECURITY FENCE will be charged this fee,
BRING YOUR OWN EXTENSION CORDS! LIMITED POWER AVAILABLE.
This is not a secured area and all parking is at the owner's risk.
All generators must be turned off between 11:00 pm and 6:30 am
Anyone found discharging grey water on the grounds will be removed IMMEDIATELY.
Please respect our parking volunteers as to their directions. Any argument, abusive language, or
uncooperative will not be tolerated and expulsion from the grounds will result, along with future barring
of parking at AVKC events.
Note: No refunds will be made for parking fees.
