NotePartial memory of the built-in memory is used for the camcorders Firmware code and software.

Section 2 Getting Started

Loading the Battery

Beforeusingthecamcorder,youmustloadtheLithium-ionrechargeablebatterycomewithinthepackage.

Insertthebatteryaccordingtothecorrectpolaritymarks(+or1.-).

Closethebatterycoverfirmly.2.

Charging the Battery

Pleasechargethebatteryforatleast8hourspriortoitsfirstuse.Afterwards,itwill takeapproximately4or5hours to fullycharge thebatterybyACadapter.ThecamcordermustbeturnedOFF.Theblinkinglightconfirmsthe camcorder is currently charging, and the light becomes constant after thecharging iscompleted. InACchargingMode,the lightwill turn itselfoff automatically after 3~5 minutes. (Actual charging time may vary. Itdependsonthebatteryconditions.)

Inserting and Removing an SD Card (Optional)

The camcorder comes with an internal memory that allows you to store photosandvideos.YoucanexpandthememorycapacitybyusinganoptionalSDmemorycard.

Toinsetamemorycard,pleaserefertothefigureontherightside.1.

To remove the memory card, please press the card and it will pop 2. up. Then pull the card out of the slot.

NoteWhenamemorycardisfitted,videos/photosaresavedtothecardratherthanthebuilt-inmemory.

Protecting Data on an SD Card: SD Card is read-only when it is locked. No photos or videos can be recorded when the SD card is locked. Make sure the lock is on the writeable position before recording any media.

Turning On/Off Your Camcorder

Open the LCDmonitor or press and hold down the [Power Button] for 1 second to turn on thecamcorder.

To turn off the camcorder, press and hold down the [PowerButton]for1secondorclosetheLCDmonitor.

Video Recording

Press [RecordButton] to start recording. When a video is being recorded, a time indicator will display ontheLCDmonitor( ).Tostoprecording,pressit again.

Topauserecording: Press [PauseButton] to pause recording ( 00:00:36 ). To continue the recording, press it again.

PictureinVideo(PIV):Duringrecording,youcancaptureimagesbypressing[PhotoButton]. ThePIVicon( )appearsontheLCDmonitor.

Press [PlaybackButton] or touch on the screen to view the recorded video.

Thesettingallowsyoutoextendthebrightnessoftheobjectsthataredarkorintheshadow. Itcanextendthedynamicrangeforbacklightandhighcontrastsense,sothattheobjectswillbebrighterand clearer.

Press 2. [RecordButton] to start recording or press [Photobutton]totakephoto.

Using Stabilization Function

Video Resolution

Four resolution settings are available.FHD (1080p 30): Recordvideosat1920x1080p30fpsresolution.HD+ (720p 60): Recordvideosat1280x720p60fpsresolution.HD (720p 30): Recordvideosat1280x720p30fpsresolution.VGA (640X480): Recordvideosat640x480p30fpsresolution.


In the Video menu, touch the [Resolution] icon on the1.screen.Touch to select the desired option.2. Touch the Exit icon 3. ( )to exit.

Pre-record

ThePre-recordfunctionensuresthatyouwillnotmissanycriticalrecordingopportunities.Thevideosarerecorded3secondsmorebeforethe[RecordButton]ispressed.


In the Video menu, touch the [Pre-record] icon on the1.screen.

Touchtoselect[On]or[Off]2. ( ).


NoteAim the camcorder at the subject and position it securely.

Motion Detection

Record videos automatically when the camcorder detects a movement.


IntheVideomenu,touchthe[MotionDetect]icononthe1.screen.

Touchtoselect[On]or[Off]2. ( ).Touch the Exit icon 3. ( )to exit.Camcorder will start to record video automatically if it 4. detectsamovement.Stoprecordingifitdoesnotdetecta movement.

Slow Motion

Recordvideoswithslowmotioneffect.Whenthevideoisplayed,theplaybacktimewillbelongerthanthe actual recording time.


IntheVideomenu,touchthe[SlowMotion]icononthe1.screen.



NotePause function can not be used when Slow Motion function is activated.

Time Lapse

Recordstillimagesatspecificintervalsyoucansetandplaythemasonevideofile.

Off: Disable Time Lapse.

1 Second.: Record one frame per second.

3 Seconds: Recordoneframeevery3seconds.

5 Seconds: Record one frame every 5 seconds.


IntheVideomenu,touchthe[TimeLapse]icononthe1.screen.

Touch to select the desired option.2.


NotePause function can not be used when Time Lapse function is activated.

Touch the [Photo] icon on the screen. Submenu of2. Photo will pop out on the screen.

The Photo submenu contains 5 options-- Resolution,3.Flash, Self-Timer,SmileDetect, and ISO, --foryou toadjustthecamcordersettings.

Photo Resolution

Three resolution settings are available.

16MP :Shootphotoat4608x3456,16MPquality.




In the Photo menu, touch the [Resolution] icon on the1.screen.



Flash

Thiscamcorderhasthreeflashsettings.

Flash Auto : Theflashfiresautomaticallyaccording to lightconditions.Use thismode forgeneralphotography.

Red Eye Reduct. (RedEyeReduction) :Thepre-flashwillfiretoreducethered-eyeeffect.

Flash Off : Theflashwillnotfireunderanycircumstances.Usethismodewhentakingphoto inaplacewhereflashphotographyisprohibited,orwhenthesubjectisdistant(beyondtherangeoftheflash).


InthePhotomenu,touchthe[Flash]icononthescreen.1.



NoteTheflashwillbedisabledautomaticallywhenthebatterypowerislow( ).

Self-Timer

Theself-timerallowsyoutotakephotoswithaten-secondtimedelay.Theself-timerlightonthefrontofthecamcorderwillalsoblink.Thespeedofblinkingwillincreasejustbeforethephotoistaken.


In the Photomenu, touch the [Self-timer] icon on the1.screen.



Smile Detection

Capture image automatically when the camcorder detects a smile.


InthePhotomenu,touchthe[SmileDetect]icononthe1.screen.



In Record Mode, aim the camcorder at the smiling4. face(s).The face frame(s)willappeararound the facewith smile.

Thecamcorderwillfocusonthesubject.5.

Then, the camcorder will capture the photo 6.automatically.

ISO

The camcorder adjusts the ISO sensitivity of its images automatically. Fourmanual ISO sensitivitysettingsareavailable.(800/1600/3200/6400).Thelargerthenumberis,thehighertheISOsensitivityissetto.Selectasmallnumbertoshootasmootherimage.Selectalargenumbertoshootanimageinadarklocationortoshootasubjectmovingathighspeed.


InthePhotomenu,touchthe[ISO]icononthescreen.1.



NoteThe image may become noisy when the ISO number is large.

Effect

Auto: Shootwithoutanyspecialeffectontheimage.Skin: Shootwithaneffectthatmakesskintonesmorenatural.Night: UseNightModefornightscenesorlowlightconditions.Backlight: Youcantakeshotswhenthebrightlightisbehindthesubject.Black/White: Theimageisconvertedtoblack-and-white.Classic: Theimageisconvertedtoasepialook.Negative: The image is converted as the negative of the normal.


In the Effect menu, touch the [Scene] icon on the1.screen.



NoteToavoidblurryphotos,placethecamcorderonaflat,steadysurface,oruseatripodwhentakingshots in the Night Mode.

White BalanceThecamcorderadjuststhecolorbalanceofimagesautomatically.Threemanualwhitebalancesettingsareavailable:

Auto: Thecamcorderautomaticallyadjustswhitebalance.Daylight: Under outdoor condition.Fluorescent: Underfluorescentlightcondition.Tungsten: Under tungsten light condition.


IntheEffectmenu,touchthe[WhiteBalance]iconon1.the screen.



Macro Mode

Youcanselectthemodeforrecordingclose-upvideoandphoto.


IntheEffectmenu,touchthe[MacroMode]icononthe1.screen.



Face Tracking

The camcorder can detecthumanface(s)andfocusontheface(s)automatically.Thisfunctioncanworkswithvideo recordingandphotocapturing. It iswonderful forcapturingbeautifulportraits inbacklightsituation.


In theEffectmenu, touch the [FaceTracking] icon on1.the screen.



InRecordMode,aim thecamcorderat the face(s).The4. faceframe(s)willappeararoundtheface.

NoteWhenFaceTrackingisactivated,aimthecamcorderatthehumanface(s).Thefaceframe(s)willshow on the LCD before the [Record Button]/[Photo Button] is pressed.

Video Playback


IntheVideoPlaybackmode,touch1. / to play or pause the videos.Sweeptothe2. right or touch to go to the previous video; sweep to the left or touch to go to the next video. While playing videos, touch 3. / to fast rewind/forward. Touch 4. to increase the volume; touch to reduce the volume.Touch(5. )toexit.

NoteWhen the LCD is idle for a few seconds, the playback function icons will disappear automatically.

Delete Videos


T1. ouch to go to the Delete option screen.

Touch[Yes]todeletethecurrentvideoor[No]tocancel2. the operation and to exit; touch [All (Delete All)] todelete all videos.

Beforeallvideosareabouttobedeleted,aconfirmation3.screenwillappear;touch[Yes]toexecutetheoperationand[No]tocanceltheoperation.

NoteIf a memory card has been inserted, you can only delete those videos stored on the card.

Videos on a written-protected memory card cannot be deleted.

Photo Playback


InthePhotoPlaybackmode,1. sweep to the right or touch to go to the previous photo; sweep to the left or

touch to go to the next photo. Whilethephotoisselected,press[TeleButton]tomagnify.2. (ThemagnificationIndicatorappearsonthescreen)Tonavigatethemagnifiedphoto,pressonthescreenand3.move as well. NoteWhen the LCD is idle for a few seconds, the playback function icons will disappear automatically.

Delete Photo


Touch1. to go to the Delete option screen.

Touch[Yes]todeletethecurrentphotoor[No]tocancel2. the operation and to exit; touch [All (DeleteAll)]todeleteall photos.

Beforeallphotosaredeleted,aconfirmationscreenwill3.appear;touch[Yes]toexecutetheoperationand[No]tocancel the operation.

NoteIf a memory card has been inserted, you can only delete those photos stored on the card.

Photos on a written-protected memory card cannot be deleted.

Section 5 Setting Your Camcorder

Setting Menu


T1. ouch on the screen and the menu will show on the screen.

Touch the [Setting] icon on the screen. Submenu of2. Settingwillpopoutonthescreen.

TheSettingsubmenucontains7optionsforconfiguring3.your camcorder setup. They are Sound (operationsound), TV, Language, Time Setting, Date Printing,Format,andDefaultSetting.

Sound

Enableordisablethekeypadtoneandtheoperationsound.


In the Setting menu, touch the [Sound] icon on the1.screen.



TV

Ensure that theappropriateTVstandardofyourarea isselectedeitherNTSCorPAL.WrongTVsystemsettingmaycauseimageflickers.

NTSC (60Hz):USA,Canada,Japan,SouthKoreaandTaiwan,etc.

PAL (50Hz):UK,Europe,China,Australia,SingaporeandHongKong,etc.


IntheSettingmenu,touchthe[TV]icononthescreen.1.

Touchtoselect[PAL]or[NTSC].2.

Use this option to select the language of the user interface.


In the Setting menu, touch the [Language] icon on the1.screen.



Time Setting

Date Printing

Imprintthedateandtimeonthevideoandphoto.

NoteDate Printing function can not be used when Slow Motion function is activated.

Format

Yes: Formatthebuilt-inmemory(WhenthereisnoSDcardinthecamcorder)/SDCard(WhenthereisanSDcardinthecamcorder).

No: Donotformatthebuilt-inmemory(WhenthereisnoSDcardinthecamcorder)/SDCard(WhenthereisanSDcardinthecamcorder).


In the Setting menu, touch the [Format] icon on the1.screen.

Touch to select [Yes] or [No]2. ( ). (Touch[Yes] to enter theconfirmationscreen.)

Touchthe[Yes3. ]icontoexecutetheoperationandthe [No ]icon to cancel the operation.

NoteAll the data will be erased if the SD card is formatted. Make sure all the data are copied to your PC before formatting the SD card.

Default Setting

To restore the default factory setting, select this option.


IntheSettingmenu,touchthe[DefaultSetting]iconon1.the screen.

Touch to select [Yes] or [No]2. ( ). (Touch[Yes] to enter theconfirmationscreen.)

Connecting to a High-Definition 16:9(Wide) TV
