About the Conference
As San Diego’s only hospital of its kind, Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for
Women & Newborns is pleased to present its inaugural Advances in Obstetrics
and Gynecology conference.
This educational event will provide medical practitioners with the latest clinical
information, research, and practical management strategies for women at all
stages of life. Local, regional and international specialists will share their expertise
and knowledge on key issues in gynecology, obstetrics and neonatology.
Three conference tracks will allow attendees to choose from more than 20
breakout sessions. Topics will include female pelvic disorders and incontinence;
menopause; neonatal innovations; high-risk obstetrics; and endometrial and
ovarian cancers.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this conference, participants should be able to:
• Compare and contrast the latest advances in infertility treatments
• Identify new strategies for preterm birth prevention, gestational
diabetes management, treatment of sleep apnea during pregnancy
and universal cervical screening
• Discuss multidisciplinary approaches to placenta accreta, increta
and percreta
• Describe in-utero treatment for twin-twin transfusion syndrome
• Rationalize the advantages of delayed cord clamping
• Explain neuroprotection of the neonate
• Identify current issues with morcellation
• Improve the management of gynecologic cancers
• List the pros and cons of using mesh for female pelvic disorders
