Academic Events and Corporate Activities
The Grifols Academy was pleased to host several extra-
curricular events in 2015. These events included regional and
divisional meetings, as well as a visit from the Shuyang
Chinese Delegation, a Chinese manufacturer of plasma
products. The tour allowed the guests to learn more details
about the Grifols Academy of Plasmapheresis and the history
of Grifols in the plasma collection industry. The Academy
also hosted a Transfusion Science Education Course in August
for more than 20 area clinicians.
The Grifols Academy also launched the Advanced Quality and Safety Plasma
Seminar in 2015. This seminar provides valuable insight into the safety and
quality aspects of plasma collection, storage, shipment, and plasma testing
prior to its arrival at the manufacturing plants. Attendees in the event
included managers and directors from the manufacturing plants and included
tours of local collection centers.
In September 2015, the Grifols Academy assisted with the launch of the new Center
Leadership Development Program (CLDP). This new program has been created to
orient and train the center leadership teams that will be placed in the new centers
scheduled to open in 2016. In addition to technical training in the plasma collection,
the CLDP participants will learn about establishing a quality culture, focusing on
process improvements, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction in their
new centers. CLDP participants travel to various centers for training, as well as
attend classroom instruction at the Academies.
From June through September, the Grifols Academy sponsored the
Human Performance Initiative pilot, which had the goal of
reducing human errors through a shift in organizational and
leadership approaches at the collection center level. This
initiative was part of the Academy Impelling Team’s work on the
Human Error Reduction Management Program, and it was based
on the human error reduction premise developed by Practicing
Perfection Inc. This initiative was piloted in Region 5, and more
than 280 people attended the training from 5 centers and from
various corporate departments. The Pilot included a two-day
Leadership Training and an intensive HU Basic training for production staff.
