Stations of the Cross
This Friday, we will pray the Stations of the Cross over in the Fine Arts Education Center at our regularly scheduled liturgy time of 9:40 a.m. Thank you to Mr. K’s religion classes for planning and leading us in this powerful prayer experience. Lent is a special time when we try to walk this journey in prayer and recall the final days and hours of our Lord’s Passion. You are welcome to join us!
Dress Code Thursday and Friday this week
Our prayer service has been moved to Friday this week. So, Thursday, March 9 students should be in regular dress code and may not use out of dress
code passes because we are going to the PAC. Students should be in Liturgy dress code on Friday, March 10 for the Stations of the Cross. PAC Performance on March 9th
SMCMS & SMCHS will attend the Shaolin Warriors performance at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center on March 9 at 12:30 p.m. permission slips were signed with the beginning of the year forms. Teacher vs. Student event on March 10th
On March 10th, SMCMS will welcome the 3rd and 4th grade students from SMCS for a Teacher vs. Student event. The students will compete in a trivia contest against their elementary teachers about SMCMS, take a tour, and participate in an activity in the gym with Ms. Brown. Classes will go on as normal for the SMCMS students that day. Vacation expectations
With spring break around the corner, we’ve been notified about some student/family vacations. As stated in our SMCMS Handbook about Planned
Vacations: Please DO NOT plan vacations during school time, BUT if you must
the school office should be notified in writing at least 48 hours in advance. This
information will be shared with the student’s teachers. A teacher might provide you with homework ahead of time, if they do, please try to have it completed or most of it completed when your child returns. Sometimes it’s too difficult for some students to stay up on all their current schoolwork and complete all their homework that they missed when they were on vacation. Career Expo
On Tuesday, our eighth graders went to the annual Fox Cities Career Expo held at Lake Park Zone in Menasha. Over 2,000 eighth graders were able to learn more about careers and jobs in our local community. With fun, hands on activities, personal testimonies and sample products, students rotated through 6 zones where representatives of various companies were organized by Career clusters. Parents, be sure to ask your eighth graders to look at the folder of information they brought home from the Career Expo.

Social Media Presentation
Deputy Pete Ehlert from Winnebago County, who is the chair of the Winnebago County Social Media Coalition, will be presenting to the SMCMS students on Tuesday, March 21st at 10:19 a.m. the risks of social media in our society and proper use of social media.
Come Pray with us
We often look to Lent as a time of year to deepen our relationship with God. With that in mind, we will offer a place for morning prayer each day from 7:15-7:30 a.m. Please consider joining us a day or two (or every weekday) to pray as a faith community. All parents, grandparents, guardians and students are invited to gather each weekday morning to begin our day in the presence of God and pray together during our Lenten journey. Mrs. Kalaus, our campus minister, will lead the prayer each day with time for personal intentions as well. Please feel free to drop in as you are able. Lenten Project Our school will participate in the Cross Catholic Lenten Project called Carry the Cross . This project helps raise awareness of the need for helping the orphans and vulnerable children in Kenya. Your child learned about this program during their chapel visit in religion class on Monday or Tuesday of this week. They should have come home with a small donation box, similar to the CRS rice bowls many churches use. Please encourage your child to be generous in their Lenten almsgiving, a practice we try to reinforce at this time of year. If you would like more information about this project, please go to: http://www.crosscatholic.org/ SMCS news Congratulations to our SMCHS musicians! At the conference solo & ensemble over the weekend, 14 qualified for the state competition (including our jazz band), nine received first place awards and two earned second place recognition. Congratulations to our SMCS STEM Club who had five teams compete in the state VEX Robotics Championship. Two teams qualified for the upcoming national tournament, and one of those teams finished in second place overall. Way to go, Zephyrs! SMCHS warmly thanks Bergstrom Corporation and Miron Construction Co for the beautiful renovation of the
school's chapel, which has been transformed into a truly welcoming and prayerful space. Stop in to offer up a prayer! Registration for SMCS Summer Sports Camps is now open! training. This will provide an excellent opportunity for our beginners to work with a
higher ranked student on material they will need to move to Yellow Belt and beyond
and our visitors to try our program.
The second hour will cover various techniques from other martial arts that Sensei Gary
and Sempai Will have trained in. The group will be divided by rank to cover age and
