It never ceases to amaze me how God moves and works. Just this morning I
was reflecting on how God is continually at work around us. There are many
times that we do not even recognize the Lord's activity around us. Our lack of
observation does not change the fact that God is still at work. As James
exhorts us to consider times of trial joyously, we can approach this outlook by
remembering that God is working. Just knowing the Lord is working, meaning
He is not finished yet, is enough to keep us hoping in the Lord. I am reminded
of the first stanza of "The Solid Rock," which says, "My hope is built on
nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the
sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name." What great words of encouragement when we are
facing trials of many kinds. Let me encourage you, regardless of what you are facing, to lean wholly upon
Jesus.
Your College Pastor Search Team is hard at work. Over the next two Sundays, there will be team
members available after each morning worship service for you to talk with. They are seeking your
feedback on what you would like to see in our next college minister. If you will not be with us or have
other obligations that keep you from staying after service, feel free to email our search team directly at
[email protected]. This email address goes to each one of our team
members. I would ask that you especially pray for our team over the next two months as they begin the
process of receiving and reviewing resumes. Pray for God to unify our team to Himself and to one
another. Pray for God to direct our team to the right person. Pray for the one whom God has already
chosen to serve here so that they and their family will be prepared to accept God's call. Thank you in
advance for your continued support.
At our upcoming business conference, there are two special agenda items we will vote upon. One of
those is a new Constitution and By-Laws for FBC. I cannot express to you how thankful I am for the CBL
Committee and all of the hard work they have put in over the past eighteen months. They have proposed
a solid document that will guide and protect our church in the years to come. They have prayerfully
considered every word of these guiding documents. Copies of the proposed CBL will be available this
week in the church office and in the main foyer of the worship center. The Personnel Committee will also
bring a recommendation for an updated job description for the College Pastor. A copy of the proposed
changes will also be available this week in the church office and the main foyer of the worship center.
Good work is happening in our church. I am glad I get the chance to share in it with you.
Blessings,
I am excited to let you know that devotionals are now available online that tie in with each Sunday’s message. These are meant to help you continue to apply the message each week. You can access them by clicking on the “Connect” tab on the church’s main web site, www.fbccollegestation.com. In the very near future, I hope to have them available for you to pick up after church on Sunday. If you would be interested in
helping write these devotionals, please shoot me an e-mail (address above).
