1. Start sketching the family you intend to create - How should the family look like - What details (LOD) to include

2. Create new family file from appropriate template/ Open an existing family file similar to one you wish to create

3. Includes basic settings & behaviors - Start with the framework - Add reference planes - Create geometry & lock it into the reference planes

4. Test the family file by flexing it, simply try different values for each parameter & then apply.

5. When all geometry & parameters have been created, applied & flexed, you are ready to save the file & load it into a test or a live project.
