Rev 21: 1-6, is one of my favorite chapters in the Book of Revelation. It a great source of encouragement to me starting from the moment I read, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes,… for the old order has passed away.” I am not sure of the time but I know it is one of the festive periods when we travel to the home country to celebrate the Christmas or Easter with our extended family members. Visiting is always a joyful moment in our lives. One day, we visited our uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and Auntie. When we arrived, everyone was in a joyful mood because we came home. We were also very happy. I had my Sunday best on, likewise all my brothers. My little sister Adaobi had not arrived then, so we were six boys. People would always admire my white sneakers. I was on top of the world. I would always appreciate any compliment and would be very proud to respond that it was bought for me by my father. Towards evening when we were setting out to return home from one of the uncle’s house, which is four miles away from our house and about an hour and half journey, it started raining. It was getting late,
so we had to set out. By the time we got home, my white lovely sweet beautiful sneakers were caked in red mud sand, very nasty and ugly to behold. My brothers started taunting me that the beauty of the sneakers had gone and could not be recovered. I started crying profusely at my huge loss and the damage done to my once beautiful and lovely sneakers. When my father approached me and asked for the reason of my crying. I presented my canvass to him and the ugly situation in which the rain and the mud had put it. He consoled and whispered to me that tomorrow he would make them new again. I didn’t believe him then, though I stopped crying. All the night I was wondering what my father would do to my sneakers. Early in the morning I was still sleeping when my dad walked into our room with my sneakers as white as snow and said, “Behold, I make all things new.” My joy was boundless and I woke up quickly, took the sneakers to my brothers to show off. In the same way our heavenly father can make us new again, after our sins have defaced and deformed us. He can make us new again.

Stand and be Counted Registering in a parish is a
declaration of your desire to be part of a Catholic community and
a commitment in all its dimensions brings you advantages,
recognition, and responsibilities of many kinds. Being a registered parishioner makes things much easier when it is time for infant
Baptism, weddings, when asked to be a Baptismal or Confirmation
Sponsor and even funerals.
We are often asked to provide affidavits for Baptismal and
Confirmation Sponsors. We can only do this if a person is a
registered, active and contributing member.
So, are you a registered parishioner? If not, please consider registering. Registration forms are
available in the Parish Ministry Center or online at www.st-justin.org.

Please drop your child off in their regular classroom as usual. You can pick them up from the Small Hall at the regular time. We are so grateful for the gifts of time and talent so generously bestowed on our children by our catechists. Without their gift of wisdom, and spirit, our children would not be able to grow as much in faith, hope, and Christ’s love. We thank: Nadia West, Catherine Pham, Eric Cheng, Angele Christensen, Lisa Ballou, Nelson Castelino, Merry Prasetyo, Randy Prasetyo, Laura Mathews, Gabrielle Reilly, Joseph Manarello, Josephine Arandia, Paula Arandia, Kathy Gannon, Crispina Manarello, Myke Buhat, and Irene Pham And we thank our teen aides: Eva Kwiatkowski, Melvin Prasetyo, Cailey Larmore, and Malia Joseph
Do you feel God‘s call to share your faith with others? Have you thought about becoming a catechist for our “Children’s Liturgy of the Word” on Sunday mornings? A catechist is a person of faith who responds to that call, and passes on the traditions and
teachings of our Church to others. Our “Children’s Liturgy of the Word” allows our children to be in a focused environment that opens their hearts and minds to hear and to respond to God’s Word in an age appropriate manner.
To find out more about this essential ministry, contact Mary Kane at [email protected].
Material Requests We are very grateful that our
parishioners have responded most generously to all our requests. At this time our craft supply storage is filled to capacity.
We will notify you when we are able to receive
further craft donations.
Also, if you are interested in supplying our Parish Ministry Center and Room 2 with
large and small paper plates, forks, spoons, cold cups and
napkins, that would be very much appreciated.
Thank you for your continued
generosity!!!
Now that our Neophytes have celebrated the Easter Sacraments, some of you may be reflecting on
your own faith journey.

The fruit and vegetables are a welcome addition to the food that we distribute to those seeking assistance.
Community Ministry TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION The French Revolution swept the church in France away in an astonishing way, stripping the nation of every possible vestige of the faith, not merely shuttering churches, but using them as staging areas for pagan raves and romps. While millions of faithful simply went underground and hung on for the ride, even the seven-day week was demolished along with the names of the months. What emerged from the chaos was the Napoleonic Code of 1792 governing church life, and therefore marriage law in France, French Canada, and elsewhere. The code makes civil marriage mandatory for all citizens. In practice, when the faithful marry, they go first to the City Hall. There, the mayor performs the civil marriage, usually accompanied by a patriotic speech about the duties of the citizen, particularly in the rearing of children. Then, typically after a lunch, everyone goes off to change into more festive attire for the wedding liturgy, featuring consent, the exchange of rings, and the nuptial blessing. Sadly, only a minority of citizens today celebrate even the civil form of the rite, and a fraction of those continue on to the church. For those who do celebrate the liturgy of marriage, however, there is near certainty that the spouses are active worshipers, and that they will later present their children for baptism. —Rev. James Field, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

April 24, 2016 Fifth Sunday of Easter Jubilee Day for Youth This Sunday’s “Youth Jubilee” previews July’s World Youth Day in Krakow. Its theme from Matthew 5:7, “Blessed are the merciful,” echoes Pope Francis’ warning that “the practice of mercy is waning in the wider culture.” In countercultural witness, therefore, “the time has come,” says Francis, “for the Church to take up the joyful call to mercy once more. It is time to return to the basics and to bear the weaknesses and struggles of our brothers and sisters.” Jesus affirms the same in today’s
Gospel. “As I have loved you, so you also should love one another” (John 13:34). Francis concludes, “The Church’s very credibility is seen in how she shows merciful and compassionate love.” Jesus too asserts, “This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). Thus mercy “makes young” the Church, the world, and everyone. “Mercy is the force that reawakens us to new life and instills in us the courage to look to the future with hope” (Misericordiae Vultus, 10). —Peter Scagnelli, Copyright © J.
