GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS
1. Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
there is no shadow of turning with thee;
thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
as thou hast been thou forever will be.
Refrain:
Great is thy faithfulness!
Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
all I have needed thy hand hath provided;
great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
2. Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
3. Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

BIBLE STUDY
9.00 A.M. – 9.45 A.M
Sub-Theme/4: Personal Attributes That Displease God.
Topic: Sexual Immorality.
Text: 1 Cor.5:1-11.
Aims: i) To understand the concept of immorality in
general;
ii) To discover the dangers of sexual immorality;
iii) To note the way out of it.
Introduction: Morality deals with or relates “to principles of right
or wrong in behaviour.” ‘Immorality’ is the quality, practice or act
that is morally wrong or inappropriate. ‘Sexual immorality’ is the
act of indulging in sex outside marriage or inappropriately. The
Bible condemns sexual immorality generally, but much more in the
Church as made clear in our text. This is because it falls clearly
outside the will of God (1 Thess. 4:3) and what sane societies
accept. But more than that, it is fraught with a wide range of
dangers.
Study Guide
1. a. Explain ‘sexual immorality’ in your own words.
b. What is the difference between fornication and adultery?
Why are they evil, considering their physical, social,
emotional, spiritual, etc dimensions?
2. Why and how did God warn against sexual immorality
(fornication or adultery) in the Bible? Rom.6:12-13; 1
Cor.6:15-20; Heb.13:4.
3. What are some causes of sexual immorality in society and
in churches? Job 31:1;1 Cor.6:15-20
4. How can sexual immorality be curbed in the church? Job
31:1; Matt.5:27- 28; 1 Cor.5:1-7, 13; 7:1-9.
Conclusion: Sex outside marriage, especially in the church,
certainly displeases God. The warnings against it and the dangers of
indulging in it should make Christians to avoid and flee from it.
Church authorities can help members to overcome the temptation of
sexual immorality.
Food For Thought: Is the fleeting pleasure of sexual immorality
worth all the troubles that it brings to us?
Memory Verse: 1 Cor.6:18.

3, Ajele Street, Lagos, Nigeria “Abraham was very comfortable in UR of the Chaldeans; this was a huge city in northern Mesopotamia in the area today known as southern Iraq near the Euphrates River. Abram has everything he wanted or needed to be happy with his wife Sarai for an entire lifetime. But, God had other plans for Abram and his wife Sarai.” (Gen.1-3) God’s plan for Abram’s life included a far different road than the one the world offered, and it would take him out of his comfortable surroundings to encounter a strange new land filled with many challenges. Abram chose to have the courage to obey, though he got bogged down for a while, he finds himself stuck with Lot until things separated them later, Lot wasn’t in the original plan. Things were not easy in the desert areas with all his flocks and servants. Not long into the journey a horrible famine hit, so bad that it forced Abram and Sarai to travel to Egypt where he nearly got himself killed because he told a half lie about his wife and his relationship to her. Also, Abram and Sarai both attempted to help God with one of His promises ... that of a son, they tried to adopt Eliezer of Damascus, but God said that wasn’t the answer so then they used Hagar to give birth to Ishmael, but that wasn’t the answer either, not until Isaac was born when Abraham was 100 and Sarah was 90 did they find God’s promise coming true. They made numerous mistakes and faltered several times but they kept coming back to God’s promises and found faith again to keep the courage to obey. Therefore, while God’s call is different for each one of us, the courage to obey is equally important to us all. God calls everyone of us to do something for His kingdom’s sake, what we need is the courage to obey that call no matter what it is, no matter where it takes us, no matter what demand it makes on our life.
3, Ajele Street, Lagos, Nigeria
God sometimes ask us to do things that we are not comfortable with or familiar with. His plans don’t always follow what we anticipate. He asked Abram to leave 3 things behind and blindly follow His plan for his life: “Leave your own country, Leave your people, and leave your father’s house. And go to a land I will show you!” (Gen. 12:1) God’s plans are never without God’s promises; this is what gives us the courage to act on His will for our lives. God never calls us to do something without promising to help us do what He calls us to do! At times those promises are the only things we have to stand on when things don’t go as we hoped or planned. Many times the promises of God that keep us going in the face of loss and confusion. God’s promises are personal, even when things don’t go as we thought God had planned, God could very well be using the circumstances to build our character, something that God is far more interested in,Than just what we do for Him. Wherefore let us cultivate a strong passion to demonstrate courage in obedience to God’s word. And do not fear when God’s direction takes a turn you do not understand. He is completely trust worthy.
