Objects of Kiwanis
The six permanent Objects of Kiwanis International were approved by Kiwanis Club delegates at the 1924 International Convention in Denver, Colorado. Through the decades, they
have remained unchanged.
- To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life.
- To encourage the daily living of the golden Rule in all Human relationships.
- To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.
- To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.
- To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities.
- To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

In memory of Past President Sandra Elaine Watson, the Kiwanis Club of Shepherd Park established a memorial scholarship fund to help students pursue academic excellence. It seems only fitting and proper that we honor her. We have learned from her life. Also, we learned from her example, but more than just saying we learned, let’s follow her example and make our efforts count on behalf of somebody else.

America (My Country, 'Tis of Thee) by Rev. Samuel F. Smith
My country, 'tis of Thee, Sweet Land of Liberty, Of thee I sing; Land where my fathers died, Land of the pilgrims' pride,
From every mountainside, Let Freedom ring.
My native country, thee, Land of the noble free, Thy name I love; I love thy rocks and rills, Thy woods and templed hills,
My heart with rapture thrills, Like that above.
Let music swell the breeze, And ring from all the trees Sweet Freedom's song;
Let mortal tongues awake; Let all that breathe partake; Let rocks their silence break, The sound prolong.
Our fathers' God to Thee, Author of Liberty, To thee we sing,
Long may our land be bright, With Freedom's holy light, Protect us by thy might, Great God, our King.
Our glorious Land to-day, 'Neath Education's sway, Soars upward still.
Its hills of learning fair, Whose bounties all may share, Behold them everywhere, On vale and hill!
Thy safeguard, Liberty, The school shall ever be, Our Nation's pride!
No tyrant hand shall smite, While with encircling might, All here are taught the right, With Truth allied.
Beneath Heaven's gracious will, The stars of progress still,
Our course do sway; In unity sublime. To broader heights we climb, Triumphant over Time, God speeds our way!
Grand birthright of our sires, Our altars and our fires.
Keep we still pure! Our starry flag unfurled, The hope of all the world, In peace and light impearled, God hold secure!
Life Every Voice And Sing Lyrics Written by- James Weldon Johnson
Lift every voice and sing, till earth and heaven ring, Ring with the harmonies of liberty; Let our rejoicing rise High as the listening skies, Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us, Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
facing the rising sun of our new day begun, let us march on till victory is won.
Stony the road we trod, bitter the chastening rod, felt in the days when hope unborn had died; yet with a steady beat, have not our weary feet come to the place for which our fathers died?
We have come over a way that with tears have been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered, out from the gloomy past, till now we stand at last the
white gleam of our bright star is cast.
God of our weary years, God of our silent tears, thou who hast brought us thus far on the way; thou who hast by thy might led us into the light, keep us forever in the path, we pray. Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met thee; lest our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget thee, shadowed beneath thy hand may we forever stand,
true to our God, true to our native land.
