Take steps to your safety while visiting your National Parks
PARKING YOUR VEHICLE
DO NOT leave any valuables in your
parked vehicle.
ALWAYS SECURE your parked vehicle.
NEVER leave your vehicle engine running
while it is unattended.
DO NOT leave children and pets
unattended.
BEFORE getting in your vehicle, check the
back seat and around the car to see if any-
one is hiding.
JOGGING IN THE PARK
Try not to jog alone.
AVOID the use of stereo headphones.
BE AWARE of your surroundings.
CARRY a picture ID.
Let someone know where you will be and
when you expect to return.
DRIVING
NEVER hitchhike or pick up strangers.
Fender/Bender, move vehicles safely out
of the roadway.
REMEMBER
Some National Parks in the Washington
Metropolitan area are closed at Dark.
Avoid unlighted or dark areas.
Walk in pairs or in groups.
Be aware of your surroundings.
Avoid shortcuts and isolated areas.
Do not accept rides from strangers.
