your style.
RUSTIC LUXURY
In today’s fast-paced world, time, space and silence are quickly becoming precious luxuries. There is
a current running through society that is a desire for a simpler time — a time when fine craftsmanship,
natural materials and wide-open spaces were appreciated. Spaces where all of the senses are allowed
to come alive and the experience is what matters.
This trend embraces minimalism in the sense of being uncluttered and spacious rather than devoid
of detail. Natural woods, patinated metals and an organic color palette that nods to the American
Southwest bring texture and warmth to create a calming interior environment. However, this look
is far from the Old West with its sleek uses of concrete, steel and flush exterior doors to maintain a
natural yet contemporary aesthetic.
Linear, organic and thoughtful — this is Rustic Luxury.
“ The simplicity of the trim allows the rustic materials to come through, giving an overall warm feel.” – Andrew Wood,

PRETTY + CALM

A culture shift is happening in which traditional roles in the home and at work are becoming more
genderless. The lines are becoming blurred as to what is considered masculine and what is feminine.
While the distinctions may not be as clear, people are embracing a reconnection with the softer side
of traditional femininity and an appreciation for the restorative qualities that come from a connection
with Mother Earth.
This nurturing environment that the Pretty + Calm trend exudes provides respite from the busy and
often chaotic world of daily life. Material choices are smooth to the touch, colors are energizing yet
soothing, and the lines of walls and furniture flow freely through the space. Blending classic forms with
contemporary materials and details, the essence of Pretty + Calm lives up to its name, creating a space
that is pleasing to the eye and comforting to the soul.

URBAN COUNTRY
When thinking about sustainability and our impact on the Earth, what we believe and feel can
sometimes be contrary to societal advancements and growth. This trend embraces that contradiction,
fusing rural traditions with city-dwelling sophistication. At the heart of it are personal values,
authenticity, simplicity and a desire to celebrate what exists in nature by bringing the outdoors in.
These traits lead the way in achieving a much sought-after balance.
Whether it be through wide plank timber floors, shiplap walls from reclaimed wood or clay pottery,
this handcrafted feel augments lightly painted walls with plenty of natural light. Hardwearing iron and
blackened steel are mixed with polished and satin brass, while stone and marble add a touch of luxury.
While Urban Country may be a juxtaposition of themes, the look that it embodies places the best of both
worlds on display.

MINIMAL OPULENCE
In recent years, many design trends embraced a stark, minimalist approach with low furniture,
high ceilings and nothing in between. In 2019, there is a resurgence of geometric patterns, deep
colors and unexpected details as a way to add back in a little luxury and warmth. The geometry
keeps this trend contemporary, and there is a confidence that comes from strong lines and sharp
angles — confidence that draws out an air of sophistication in its visual symmetry.
Minimal Opulence takes streamlined surfaces and carries those lines up the walls, onto ceilings and
throughout furnishings in a layered, geometric way reminiscent of the art deco era. These definitive
patterns paired with rich material accents of marble, leather, velvet and shiny metals create a classic
yet glamorous space.

ARTISAN EXPLORER
Globalization is rapidly on the rise, primarily due to technological change. As a society, there is more
access and exposure to different cultures, customs and ideas. Generations that have experienced this
since childhood and throughout their lives have developed a strong passion for travel and exploration.
Even though they place a higher value on experiences over property and material assets, they are quick
to add cherished artifacts and cultural inspiration from their journeys into living spaces as a reflection of
leading an adventurous life.
Eclectic, worldly and well-traveled, Artisan Explorer celebrates all of the beauty and talent the world has
to offer. Grounded in a blank canvas of clean white walls, this trend leaves plenty of room for decorative
fixtures and vividly colored textiles to draw the attention. Handwoven baskets, organically dyed yarn
rugs and sculptures from a faraway land adorn these spaces, and the mix of colors and materials beg
for a story to be told. Large wooden doors and tables in mahogany, walnut or red oak contrast with the
bright, lively palette and offer an invitation to come in, engage and explore.
