The American Guitar Society presentsBENJAMIN PILA

Hailed by Sharon Isbin as "an excellent player with a solid technical facility, strong creative insight, and expressive musicality," Benjamin Pila makes a rare West Coast appearance presenting a diverse program of selections by Dyens, Albéniz, Llobet and Freddie Mercury. A graduate of The Juilliard School and USC, Pila has performed at the WTC 9/11 ceremonies foshared the stage with Yo-Yo Ma, James Taylor and Itzhak Perlman. A native of Bulgaria, Stela Miteva-Dinkova has garnered several prizes in national and international competitions, and has performed throughout Europe, America and Africa including major festivals in Spain, the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland and Serbia. An associate professor at thMusic, Dance and Fine Arts since 1996, she is a strong exponent of Bulgarian music and recently published two collections of guitar music by Bulgarian composers, the first of their kind. This special fundraiser features the American Guitar Society Guitar Orchestra in a festive holiday event featuring a symphony of guitars in favorites from Bach, Strauss, and Mayeur. Under the direction of John Jihanyan, the orchestra features some of the finest players in Southern California. This is a great way to introduce your friends to the beauty of the classical guitar. This event is always well attended, so book your tickets early!

USC Thornton Studio/Jazz Guitar faculty member Adam del Monte and classicalguitarist Mak Grgic have received rave reviews for their collaboration, Duo Deloro. Their performance will include works of Granados, Albéniz, Ginastera, as well as Argentinian tangos. The duo has been praised as technically “excellent” and “full of life, quirky, and fun.” These musicians are Southern California favorites, and the perfomance is sure to be electrifying!
