R.Patel ( Principal,VGEC), Prof Uday Trivedi (Dpt of Nano Science), Prof M.G.Desai( HOD, Chem),Shital Amin, P.H.Rana . Guide from Industries- Mr Shailesh Patwari( President Naroda Industries Association ),Mr Ajay Patel,Mr Dinesh Prajapati and other Industry (MSME)owners who walked along with students and faculties. Mr Tanmay Mehta, GCCI for inter process communication. Shodhyatra Coordination- Hiranmay Mahanta, Malav Kansara, (Techpedia.in) www.techpedia.in
Background-
India had missed the industrial revolutions of the nineteenth century and early part of twentieth
century. Our industries had not benefited from research at Universities and the two have not yet
been able to come together in any meaningful way, in spite of all the efforts during the last 63 years.
Innovation cannot occur at industries, which have no active inter-action with Universities. Innovation
at Universities, where the learners & researchers and laboratories & workshops have no contact
with the real world is very difficult. The Soviet Russian experiment has proved that research
laboratories, without an active relationship with Universities, may not be as innovative as expected.
Basic Agenda for the above Shodhyatra-
To map four aspects of technology – in – use at MSME clusters and in the neighbouring rural and
urban communities by.
1. The first aspect was benchmarking the current level of energy, material and technology
youths in the enterprise.
2. Second, to identify any innovation that the MSME unit may have tried.
3. Third was to identify the unsolved problems.
4. And the fourth was to identify the policy bottlenecks which are coming in the way in realizing
fully the entrepreneurial potential.
Innovation Ecosystem-
The industry defined projects, IDPs scouted by students of 32 various disciplines of Engineering will
be posted at Techpedia.in. Students will convert these real life issues as their projects and put hand
together with the help of floor people from corresponding industries from where problems are being
mapped. This will address the challenge to get ready for India to become crucible of creativity for the
whole world. Unlike the low tech IT outsourcing business, in future platform like
innovation clusters being developed by GTU and Techpedia.in, would enable high tech outsourcing
with the distributed management of knowledge and ideas with high degree of
redundancy. (166 industry clusters+ 500 colleges of GTU will be divided into 20 innovation clusters of
GTU Colleges and industries , MSMEs).The MSMEs will be benefited via 20, lac months of effort by
Engineering students of GTU every year. All MSMEs of this association's floor projects will be
mapped and channelized to various technical institutes of GTU.Students will convert these IDPs as
their final year real life project. The innovation quotient of the country will go up in a single stroke.
Shodhyatra part-1
A Brief Training Secession for students on Scouting and Documentation by Hiranmay Mahanta, Prof
M.G.Desai and Mr Ajay Patel (from Industries) at NIA.The Industrial Shodhyatra began from this
point.
Part 2- Faculty-Industrialist Interaction.
Part-3
A hand Analytical Experience for Students guide by Professors and SME technocrats.
Part-4
On the Spot Suggestions by students in improving product, process and Probable insertion of
Innovative interdisciplinary strategies.
Part-5
A finishing touch on Documentation/mapping of IDPs (industry defined projects) from real floor of
MSMEs. (Coordinated by Malav Kansara).
Part-6
Redefining Waste Management-Waste is that whose optimum usability is yet to be found
Students, Fcaulties, Floor persons, technocrats brainstorm in efficient waste management.
Part-7
Analysing the inputs taken from Industry Floor with faculties and Techpedia team at NIA after floor
interaction.
Part-8
Developing road map for next week industrial shodhyatra and taking initiatives for creating a co-
created innovation based knowledge ecosystem.
A team who walked in NIA for locating/mapping MSME defined technical projects.
Industrial Sodhyatra will be done in weekends involving faculties and students in all parts of state from
coming weeks. This will felicitate an user defined innovation based knowledge ecosystem. These
Sodhyatras will be done involving all technical students of GTU in larger scale in summer where they
will map the IDPs in a period of 1 month while closely working with industries and submit
projects/IDPs to GTU. Best proposed projects by students, 1000 in BE and 1000 in Diploma will be
supported by GTU financially if the novelty of idea to solve the practical issue is innovative. This will
help more and more students solving real life issues (socio-technical issues).MSMEs can be
benefited via students and faculty's research works in academia. A healthy bonding can be created
between MSME (who cannot afford their own R&D and other industries) and student/researchers
groups. Faculties and floor engineers (even semiskilled floor engineers) will be exchanged both in
industry and academia for mapping a need based evolution.
Connections, creativity and collaboration in both academia and industry will be developed via
optimum harnessing of technical youth potential of India.
