BRADLEY BEACH — The Bradley Beach Po-licemen’s Benevolent Association [PBA]Local No. 50 has filed a lawsuit against theBorough of Bradley Beach and PoliceChief Leonard Guida, claiming a depart-mental policy violates PBA members’ con-stitutional rights.

The lawsuit was filed in United StatesDistrict Court, Newark Division, by PBAattorney Marcia J. Mitolo, of the firm Lim-sky Mitolo in Hackensack.

According to the lawsuit, a policy enact-ed by Chief Guida in January 2014 allowedhim to search police officers’ cell phonerecords for times when they were activelyon duty, which the lawsuit claims is a vio-lation of the PBA members’ fourth-am-mendment rights against “unreasonablesearches and seizures.”

The policy, as described in the lawsuit,discouraged officers from using personalcell phones while on duty, unless they hadrequested permission from Chief Guida todo so. According to the lawsuit, short,

BELMAR — After years ofpreparation, collection, a ma-jor setback in the form of ahurricane and subsequent re-covery, the Belmar HistoricalSociety Museum finallyopened its doors to the publicover the weekend.

Visitors poured into theannex of the Union Firehouseat 9th Avenue and E Street onSaturday, April 11, to tour theexhibits, journey throughtime and view the hard workand dedication of the BelmarHistorical Society [BHS].

According to Pat O’Keefe,museum secretary, the build-ing is 103 years old and was

constructed for multi-pur-pose use when Belmar “firstbecame a town.”

“What the building incor-porated was the firehouse it-self, which is still a workingfirehouse, and also the coun-cil meeting room/court roomand, eventually … the policestation,” Ms. O’Keefe said.“It’s a fairly small place butwe set it up … to give tours toelementary school children,for people to do genealogy
