ABOUT ELEMENT ENVIRONMENT
Why Element?
So What Makes Element Different?
Element Environment is a professional environmental assessment, approvals and
management consultancy that is client focussed, innovative and transparent and
ensures the management of projects in a strategic, sustainable and ethical manner.
At Element we understand environmental and planning legislation, and how this
effects your business or project. We draw upon our experience in managing over 250
projects to help you in developing and delivering solutions to your environmental
issues. Our aim is to assist companies to ensure that environmental management
becomes a financial saving, not a financial loss.
We look forward to discussing your companies environmental needs with you and
helping you turn your environmental challenges into strategic advantages.
§ Client focussed - We are client centred. At Element we understand that without
our clients we don't exist. We listen carefully to our clients to understand their
needs and challenges and then work closely with them to develop and implement
a plan to achieve their objectives;
§ Differentiated - We do things differently, because that's what it takes to deliver a
superior service to our clients in the current business environment;
§ Innovative - We are always thinking of ways to do things better, faster and more
innovatively. At Element we continuously evaluate the way in which we do things,
to offer our clients smarter solutions to their environmental challenges and
therefore delivering better value;
§ Sustainable - We are always thinking around the triple bottom line for our clients.
We understand that they are no longer simply able to focus on their profitability.
At Element we work with our clients to achieve their economic, social and
environmental goals;
§ Quality - We are sticklers for quality. We understand that our clients want things
right the first time. At Element we use experienced professionals that take pride in
their work and measure their performance on the quality of their delivery and
client satisfaction.
Like most industries in Australia, environmental consulting has undergone significant
change over the past five years. Client expectations have increased, while budgets
have decreased. Clients want the industry's best environmental consultants to deliver
their projects at the most affordable price. To give our clients what they want, requires
a change in conventional consulting practices. Most conventional consulting practices:
§ Have high corporate overheads, which means higher charge out rates, which
means less value for money; and
§ Are obliged to use their in-house environmental specialists, which means that
clients don't have industry best for project teams delivering their projects.
The old delivery model of “having all services under one roof” has past.

major commuter rail project spans approximately 23 kilometres, including 8 stations,
15 kilometres of twin bored tunnel and eight kilometres of above ground rail line.
Neville was the manager of the specialist (technical) studies for the two State
Significant Infrastructure planning approvals, which were assessed under Part 5.1 of
the EP&A Act). Neville was responsible for the co-ordination of over 10 specialist
teams including, ecologists, heritage impact assessors, economists, climate change
specialists, acoustic specialists, geotechnical engineers, hydrologists and

materials to truck to be transported to the Sydney market via road. Neville was the
Project Manager of the environmental approval process and lead author of the
Environmental Impact Statement (under Part 4 of the EP&A Act). Neville was
responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team of planners, civil engineers, transport
planners, ecologists, landscape architects, heritage impact assessors, acoustic and air
quality specialists. Neville also successfully co-ordinated and undertook a
comprehensive government agency and stakeholder engagement process.
This involved taking one of the lead roles in developing a community engagement
strategy to minimise the chance of negative media and to effectively manage public
perception and involved presentations at large public meetings.
Boral Badgerys Creek Quarry & Brick Making Facility Expansion, Sydney, NSW
The Badgerys Creek Quarry & Brick Making Facility project included the expansion of
quarrying operations (extraction of raw materials) as well as the continuation of the

noise, surface water and hydrology, fauna and flora, heritage, spoil management and
traffic. Neville was the Project Director of over 40 separate environmental assessments
as well as ecological and acoustic studies on this major rail infrastructure project.
Neville formed part of an integrated project team and understood through this
collaborative effort the importance of well thought out and clearly defined
communication channels, ensuring the project team fully understands what inputs are
required for the environmental assessment process and when, and not relying on
assumptions but testing understanding.

Environmental Factors, to meet the requirements under Part 5 of the EP&A Act 1979.
Project issues included, hydrology and flooding, fauna and flora including the
maintenance of fish passage, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal heritage values and
water quality.
RailCorp Glenfield Creek Railway Bridge Upgrade, Casula, NSW
