CLASSIFICATION OF PARENTING STYLE
To evaluate the influence of parenting style towards cooperative levels in children aged 3-5 years during dental treatment.
RESEARCH PURPOSES
Location and Time ResearchThis research was done in Drg. Hj. Halimah Dg. Sikati Hasanuddin Dental College and Hospital, Makassar in February-August 2013
MATERIALS AND METHODS
• The total sample ware 130 children with purposive sampling method based on inclusion and exclusion criteria.
• To obtain data in the field conducted by distributing questionare to 130 respondents who currently make use of dental treatment in Hasanuddin Dental College and Hospital.
SAMPLE OF RESEARCH
Inclusion criteria:•Parents and children are willing to be subject•Parents and children in mentally and physically condition normal •Children did not have bad dental experience or dental phobia.•Children who treated with OD/DHE, filling, endodontic, topical aplikasi fluor, or pit and fissure sealant.•Children who stayed and raised with biological parents
Exclusion criteria:1.If children and parents refused to be subject while reserch conducted2.Parents did not complete to fill up the questionare

• Vandana Sharma 2004; Parenting style such as warmth, close regulation, strict enforcement of family rules with clear emphasis on consequences of behaviors, and democratic recognition of child’s viewpoint have been consistently associated with low levels of behavioral problems.
DISCUSSION
• Alev Onder dan Hulya Gulay, Children who are grown up in the families of permissive parents can be selfish. These children do not show interest to others feelings and thoughts. They may have insufficient self- control and lower self- confidence. They may have insufficient social skills
• Children with this characteristics have potential chance to cause trouble during dental treatment.
• Wendy K. Lamont 2008; On the role of parenting in younger children found that harsh parenting was the primary determinant of behaviour problems for both children aged 2-3 and 8-9 years
• A one-point increase on a 10-point scale of harsh parenting was related to a 50% increase in risk for behaviour problems.
• Sean G. Boynes et. al. 2014; Pediatric anxiety and fear of dental care is multifactorial and the parents have a significant role in its development.
• The communication process between the child-patient and parent can include negative connotations may cause children cannot be cooperative in dental treatment.
CONCLUSION
There is a significant influence of parenting style towards cooperative levels in children aged 3-5 years during dental treatment.
The authoritative parenting style is most affecting cooperative levels in children aged 3-5 years during dental treatment.
