23RD SAUDI NEUROLOGY SOCIETY MEETING
Welcome Message
Dear Colleagues:
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 23rd
Saudi Neurology Society Meeting (SNS) to be held in Le
Meridien Hotel, Madinah Al Munawwarah, Saudi Arabia on 3-5 March 2016. After the great success of the last
meeting in Jeddah last January 2015, we hope that you will all enjoy the highly scientific learning and social
activities. In order to show our commitment and appreciation to the new comers in Neurology, the theme for this
year’s meeting is:
“The Future of Neurology in the Hands of Young Saudi Neurologists”
Neurologists and Scientists from different parts of Saudi Arabia and neighboring countries will meet to exchange
knowledge and experience about practice, education and academic endeavors for a brighter future. A Session is
devoted to our colleagues from different parts of the Arab World. A number of ongoing research results will also
be presented. Since the official establishment of the SNS three years ago, the current Board worked very hard to
make the society one of the most active societies in the Kingdom. It is also noteworthy that the election of the
next Board will be held after the first day of the meeting.
We chose Madinah as it where Islam flourished and from this city – the light of Islam spread in vast areas of the
world. Everyone who visits this great city experience the unique feeling of spiritual calmness, physical relaxation
and a feeling of peace and serenity.
The weather in Madinah is most fitting, pleasant and very convenient for those who would like to visit the Haram
in Madinah and Makkah Mukarramah. The venue was chosen to accommodate a huge number of attendees.
We wish that you all benefit from the scientific program and enjoy the social and professional gatherings.
We look forward to welcome you all in Madinah Al Munarawah.

Madinah General Information
Medina (/məˈdiːnə/; Arabic: المدينة المنورة, al-Madīnah al-Munawwarah, "the radiant city"; or المدينة, al-Madīnah, "the city"), also transliterated as Madīnah, is a city in the Hejaz, and the capital of the Al Madinah Region of Saudi Arabia. The city contains al-Masjid an-Nabawi ("the Prophet's Mosque"), which is the burial place of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad, and is the second-holiest city in Islam after Mecca.
Medina was Muhammad's destination after his Hijrah from Mecca, and became the capital of a rapidly increasing Muslim Empire, first under Muhammad's leadership, and then under the first four Rashidun caliphs, Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali. It served as the power base of Islam in its first century where the early Muslim community developed. Medina is home to the three oldest mosques, namely the Quba Mosque, al-Masjid an-Nabawi, and Masjid al-Qiblatayn ("the mosque of the two qiblas"). Muslims believe that the chronologically final surahs of the Quran were revealed to Muhammad in Medina, and are called Medinan surahs in contrast to the earlier Meccan surahs.
Similar to Mecca, non-Muslims are forbidden from entering the sacred core of Medina (but not the entire city) or the city center by the national government.
