Owner Assistance
Should you ever encounter aproblem during or after the warrantyperiods that is not resolved, talk to amember of dealer management.Under certain circumstances, GMand/or GM dealers may provideassistance after the limited warrantyperiod has expired when theproblem results from a defect inmaterial or workmanship. Theseinstances will be reviewed on acase-by-case basis. If the problempersists, follow the proceduresoutlined under CustomerSatisfaction Procedure 0 32.
GM Participation in theMediation/Arbitration Program
Refer to Customer SatisfactionProcedure 0 32, for information onthe voluntary, binding Mediation/Arbitration Program in which GMparticipates.
The General MotorsProtection Plan
Many owners seek to enhance theirvehicle ownership by purchasing anoptional service contract. GeneralMotors offers its own GM ProtectionPlan (GMPP), a service contractwhich provides mechanical repairprotection, a rental/alternatetransportation allowance, and theavailability of GM RoadsideAssistance or a towing and roadservice allowance. The GMProtection Plan is available indifferent levels of coverage, eachoffering a variety of time/kilometreoptions to suit your driving needs.
The GM Protection Plan is the onlyoptional service contract backed bythe worldwide resources of General
Motors. It can be the most valuableoption you choose for your vehicle.See your GM Dealer for prices,vehicle eligibility guidelines andmore details.

4 New Vehicle Limited Warranty
What Is Covered
General Motors of CanadaCompany will provide for repairs tothe vehicle during the WarrantyPeriod in accordance with theterms, conditions, and limitationscontained in this booklet.
Warranty Applies
This warranty is for GM vehiclesoriginally sold in Canada, registeredin Canada and normally operated inCanada. GM warranty coveragesmay be void or subject torestrictions on GM vehicles thathave been imported or exported.
Repairs Covered
The warranty covers repairs tocorrect any vehicle defect, not slightnoise, vibrations, or other normalcharacteristics of the vehicle due tomaterials or workmanship occurringduring the Warranty Period. Neededrepairs will be performed using new,remanufactured, or refurbishedparts.
No Charge
Warranty repairs, including partsand labor, will be made at nocharge.
Obtaining Repairs
To obtain warranty repairs, take thevehicle to a GM dealer facilityhandling your vehicle line within thewarranty period and request theneeded repairs. Reasonable timemust be allowed for the dealershipto perform the necessary repairs.
Warranty Period
The Warranty Period for allcoverages begins on the date thevehicle is first delivered or put inuse and ends at the expiration ofthe Coverage period.
Base Warranty Coverage
The Base Warranty coverage forChevrolet, and GMC is for 3 yearsor 60 000 kilometres, whichevercomes first, except for othercoverages listed here under “WhatIs Covered” and those items listedunder “What Is Not Covered.”
The Base Warranty coverage forBuick is for 4 years or 80 000kilometres, whichever comes first,except for other coverages listedhere under “What Is Covered” andthose items listed under “What IsNot Covered.”
Powertrain Component WarrantyCoverage
The powertrain is covered for5 years or 160 000 kilometres(Chevrolet and GMC),whichever comes first, 6 years or110 000 kilometres (Buick),whichever comes first, except forother coverages listed here under"What Is Covered" and those itemslisted under “What Is Not Covered”later in this section.
Engine Coverage includes: Allinternally lubricated parts, engine oilcooling hoses and lines. Alsoincluded are all actuators andelectrical components internal to theengine (e.g., Active FuelManagement Valve Lifter OilManifold) cylinder head, block,timing gears, timing chain, timingcover, oil pump/oil pump housing,

OHC carriers, valve covers, oil pan,seals, gaskets, manifolds, flywheel,water pump, harmonic balancer,engine mount, turbocharger, andsupercharger. Timing belts, andother associated componentsrequired in the timing belt servicereplacement procedure are covereduntil the first scheduledmaintenance interval.
Diesel Components Coverageincludes: Cylinder block and headsand all internal parts, intake andexhaust manifolds, timing gears,timing gear chain or belt and cover,flywheel, harmonic balancer, valvecovers, oil pan, oil pump, waterpump, fuel pump, engine mounts,seals, and gaskets. Parts of theEmissions Reduction System suchas the emissions reduction fluidtank, injectors, sensors includingNOx and exhaust, and the ExhaustParticulate Filter. Glow Plug ControlSystem: Control/glow plugassembly, glow plugs, cold advancerelay, and engine control module.
The fuel injection control module,integral oil cooler, transmissionadapter plate, common fuel rails,fuel filter assembly, fuel temperaturesensor, and function block.
Important: Some of thesecomponents may also be coveredby the Emission Warranty. SeeEmission Warranty Parts List 0 26for details.
Exclusions: Excluded from thepowertrain coverage are sensors,wiring, connectors, engine radiator,coolant hoses, coolant, and heatercore. Coverage on the enginecooling system begins at the inlet tothe water pump and ends with thethermostat housing and/or outletthat attaches to the return hose.Also excluded is the starter motor,entire pressurized fuel system(in-tank fuel pump, pressure lines,fuel rail(s), regulator, injectors, andreturn line) as well as the Engine/Powertrain Control Module and/ormodule programming.
Transmission/Transaxle Coverageincludes: All internally lubricatedparts, case, torque converter,mounts, seals, and gaskets as wellas any electrical componentsinternal to the transmission/transaxle. Also covered are anyactuators directly connected to thetransmission (slave cylinder, etc.).
Exclusions: Excluded from thepowertrain coverage aretransmission cooling lines, hoses,radiator, sensors, wiring, andelectrical connectors. Also excludedare the clutch and pressure plate aswell as any Transmission ControlModule and/or moduleprogramming.
Transfer Case Coverage includes:All internally lubricated parts, case,mounts, seals, and gaskets as wellas any electrical componentsinternal to the transfer case. Alsocovered are any actuators directlyconnected to the transfer case aswell as encoder motor.

Exclusions: Excluded from thepowertrain coverage are transfercase cooling lines, hoses, radiator,sensors, wiring, and electricalconnectors as well as the transfercase control module and/or moduleprogramming.
Drive Systems Coverageincludes: All internally lubricatedparts, final drive housings, axleshafts and bearings, constantvelocity joints, propeller shafts anduniversal joints. All mounts,supports, seals, and gaskets as wellas any electrical componentsinternal to the drive axle. Alsocovered are any actuators directlyconnected to the drive axle (e.g.,front differential actuator).
Exclusions: Excluded from thepowertrain coverage are all wheelbearings, drive wheel front and rearhub bearings, locking hubs, drivesystem cooling, lines, hoses,radiator, sensors, wiring, andelectrical connectors related to drivesystems as well as any drive systemcontrol module and/or moduleprogramming.
Tire Coverage
The tires supplied with your vehicleare covered by General Motorsagainst defects in material orworkmanship under the BaseWarranty Coverage. Wear-out is notconsidered a defect, and it mayoccur before the vehicle warrantyexpires. In this case, the owner isresponsible to purchasereplacement tires, or seek coveragesolely from the tire manufacturer.For vehicles within the BaseWarranty Coverage, defective tireswill be replaced on a proratedadjustment basis according to thefollowing mileage-based schedule:

When a tire is removed from servicedue to a covered warranty conditionunder a tire manufacturer's limitedwarranty program, you may be
eligible for a tire replacement or acomparable new tire on a proratedbasis.
The tire manufacturer's limitedwarranty program, which can beobtained by calling or visiting thetire manufacturer's website or anyauthorized dealer, is in lieu of allother remedies or warranties,

expressed or implied, arising by lawor otherwise, including fitness for aparticular purpose ormerchantability. The tiremanufacturer's expressly disclaimliability for indirect, special,incidental, or consequentialdamages, lost profit, loss ofbusiness, loss of goodwill, loss ofreputation, punitive or any otherdamage, cost, or loss of any kind.
Towing
Towing is covered to the nearestauthorized dealer if your vehiclecannot be driven because of awarranted defect.
6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel EngineCoverage
For trucks equipped with a 6.6LDuramax Turbo-Diesel Engine, thediesel engine assembly, includingturbocharger components (exceptthose items listed under “What IsNot Covered”) is covered for defectsin material or workmanship withouta deductible for up to 5 years or160 000 kilometres, (Chevrolet andGMC), whichever comes first.
. Cylinder block and heads and allinternal lubricant parts, intakeand exhaust manifolds, timinggears, timing gear chain or beltand cover, flywheel, harmonicbalancer, valve covers, oil pan,oil pump, water pump, fuelpump, engine mounts, seals,and gaskets.
. Diesel Fuel Metering System:injection pump, nozzles, highpressure lines, high pressuresealing devices.
. Glow Plug Control System:control/glow plug assembly, glowplugs, cold advance relay,Engine Control Module (ECM).
. Emissions Reduction System:Emissions Reduction Fluid Tank,Injectors, Sensors including NOxand exhaust, and ExhaustParticulate Filter
. Fuel injection control module,integral oil cooler, transmissionadapter plate, left and rightcommon fuel rails, fuel filterassembly, fuel temperaturesensor, and function blocks.

Aftermarket Engine PerformanceEnhancement Products andModifications
Some aftermarket engineperformance products andmodifications promise a way toincrease the horsepower and torquelevels of your vehicle's powertrain.You should be aware that theseproducts may have detrimentaleffects on the performance and lifeof the engine, exhaust emissionsystem, transmission and drivetrain.The Duramax Turbo-Diesel Engine,Allison Automatic Transmission®
and drivetrain have been designedand built to offer industry leadingdurability and performance in themost demanding applications.Engine power enhancementproducts may enable the engine tooperate at horsepower and torquelevels that could damage, createfailure, or reduce the life of theengine, engine emission system,

transmission and drivetrain.Damage failure, or reduced life ofthe engine, transmission emissionsystem, drivetrain or other vehiclecomponents caused by aftermarketengine performance enhancementproducts or modifications may notbe covered under your vehiclewarranty.
Sheet Metal Coverage
Sheet metal panels are coveredagainst corrosion and rust-throughas follows:
Corrosion : For Chevrolet andGMC, body sheet metal panels arecovered against rust for 3 years or60 000 kilometres, whichever comesfirst. For Buick, body sheet metalpanels are covered against rust for4 years or 80 000 kilometres,whichever comes first.
Rust-Through : For Chevrolet andGMC, any body sheet metal panelthat rusts through due to corrosion(an actual hole in the sheet metal) iscovered for up to 6 years or160 000 kilometres, whichevercomes first. This coverage only
applies to the body sheet metalpanels and not to other metalcomponents.
Rust-Through : For Buick, anybody sheet metal panel that ruststhrough due to corrosion (an actualhole in the sheet metal) is coveredfor up to 6 years, unlimitedkilometres. This coverage onlyapplies to the body sheet metalpanels and not to other metalcomponents.
Important: Cosmetic or surfacecorrosion (resulting from stonechips, dents, or scratches in thepaint, or failure to repair paintdamaged by stone chips, dents,or scratches in the paint) is notincluded in the sheet metalcoverage.
Accessory Coverages
Most GM approved accessoriesmarketed and sold by GeneralMotors of Canada Company that arepermanently installed on a GMvehicle prior to delivery will becovered under the provisions of the
Base Warranty Coverage of theNew Vehicle Limited Warranty. Inthe event GM accessories areinstalled after vehicle delivery or arereplaced under the new vehiclebase warranty, they will be covered,(parts and labour for the balance ofthe applicable portion of the NewVehicle Limited Warranty, but in noevent less than 12 months/unlimitedkilometres (12 months/unlimited kilometres for commercialvehicles).
GM accessories sold over thecounter, or those not requiringinstallation, will receive the standardGM Dealer Parts Warranty for12 months from the date ofpurchase, parts only.
GM Licensed and IntegratedBusiness Partner (IBP) Accessoriesare covered under theaccessory-specific manufacturer’swarranty and are not warranted byGM or its dealers.

Caution
This warranty excludes:
Any communications device thatbecomes unusable or unable tofunction as intended due tounavailability of compatiblewireless service or GPS satellitesignals.
What Is Not Covered
Tire and Wheel Damage or Wear
Normal tire wear or wear-out is notcovered. Tire wear is influenced bymany variables such as roadconditions, driving styles, vehicleweight, and tire construction.Uniform tire wear is a normalcondition, and is not considered adefect. Road hazard damage suchas punctures, cuts, snags, andbreaks resulting from potholeimpact, curb impact, or from otherobjects is not covered. Tire weardue to misalignment beyond thewarranty period is not covered.Also, damage from improperinflation, overloading, spinning, as

Damage Due to Bedliners
Owners of trucks with a bedliner,whether after-market or factoryinstalled, should expect that withnormal operation the bedlinerwill move.
This movement may cause finishdamage. Therefore, any damagecaused by the bedliner is notcovered under the terms of the NewVehicle Limited Warranty.
The factory spray in bedliner (RPOCGN) is not covered for a loss ofshine and luster or fading. Refer tothe Owner's Manual for moreinformation on spray in bedlinermaintenance.
Damage Due to Accident, Misuse,or Alteration
The New Vehicle Limited Warrantydoes not cover damage caused asthe result of any of the following:
. Collision, fire, theft, freezing,vandalism, riot, explosion,or objects striking the vehicle.
. Misuse of the vehicle such asdriving over curbs, overloading,racing, or other competition.Proper vehicle use is discussedin the owner manual.

Damage Due to Contaminated,Improper, or Poor Quality Fuel
Poor fuel quality or incorrect fuelmay cause driveability problemssuch as hesitation, lack of power,stalling, or failure to start. They mayalso degrade functionality of criticalexhaust emissions componentssuch as spark plugs, oxygensensors, and the catalytic converter.Damage from poor fuel quality,water contamination, or if thevehicle requires premium fuel,operating the vehicle on gasolinewith a Pump Octane less than a91 (R+M)/2, may not be covered.
Prohibited fuels are: Gasolinescontaining any methanol, MMT, anorganometallic octane enhancing
additive, and/or fuels containingmore than 15% ethanol in non-FlexFuel Vehicles (FFV).

Warranty Repairs —Component Exchanges
In the interest of customersatisfaction, General Motors ofCanada Company may offerexchange service on some vehiclecomponents. This service isintended to reduce the amount oftime your vehicle is not available foruse due to repairs. Componentsused in exchange are servicereplacement parts that may be new,remanufactured, or refurbished.
Remanufactured parts meet GMapproved service partsrequirements and are made frompreviously used components in aprocess that involves disassembly,inspection, cleaning, update ofsoftware and replacement parts asappropriate, testing and reassembly.
Refurbished parts meet GMapproved service part requirementsand are previously used parts thatare inspected, cleaned, tested, andrepackaged.
All exchange components usedmeet GM standards and arewarranted the same as new
components. Examples of the typesof components that might beserviced in this fashion include:engine and transmissionassemblies, instrument clusterassemblies, radios, compact discplayers, batteries, and powertraincontrol modules.
Maintenance and WarrantyService Records
Retain receipts coveringperformance of regularmaintenance. Receipts can be veryimportant if a question arises as towhether a malfunction is caused bylack of maintenance or a defect inmaterial or workmanship.

Paint, Trim and AppearanceItems
Defects in paint, trim, upholstery,or other appearance items arenormally corrected during newvehicle preparation. If you find anypaint or appearance concerns,advise your dealers as soon as

Vehicle Operation and Care

Warranty Service — CanadianSold Vehicles Registered andOperated Outside Canada
This warranty applies to GMvehicles registered in Canada andnormally operated in Canada. If youhave permanently relocated andestablished household residency inanother country, GM may authorize
the performance of repairs based onthe warranty coverage for vehiclesgenerally sold by GM in thatcountry. Contact an authorized GMdealer in your country forassistance. GM warranty coveragesmay be void or subject torestrictions on GM vehicles thathave been imported or exported.
Original Equipment Alterations
This warranty does not cover anydamage or failure resulting frommodification or alteration to thevehicle's original equipment asmanufactured or assembled byGeneral Motors.
Examples of the types of alterationsthat would not be covered include,but are not limited to, any non-GMtheft alarm, remote starting deviceor remote locking system, or thecutting, welding, or disconnecting ofthe vehicle's original equipmentparts and components. Also, thewarranty does not cover a rebuiltvehicle after it has suffered suchextensive collision damage in anaccident that it was written-off ordeemed to be written-off, even if the
rebuilt vehicle uses undamagedparts and components from thewritten-off vehicle.
Additionally, General Motors doesnot warranty non-GM parts,calibrations, and/or softwaremodifications. The use of parts,control module calibrations,software modifications, and/or anyother alterations not issued throughGeneral Motors will void thewarranty coverage for thosecomponents that are damaged orotherwise affected by the installationof the non-GM part, control modulecalibration, software modifications,and/or other alteration.
The only exception is that non-GMparts labeled “Certified to EPAStandards” are covered by theFederal Emissions PerformanceWarranty.
Recreation Vehicle and SpecialBody Alterations
Installations or alterations to theoriginal equipment vehicle (orchassis) as manufactured andassembled by General Motors arenot covered by this warranty. The

body company, assembler,or equipment installer, is solelyresponsible for warranties on thebody or equipment and anyalterations to any of the parts,components, systems,or assemblies installed by GM.Examples include, but are notlimited to, special body installationor conversion (such as recreationalvehicles), the installation of anynon-GM part, cutting, welding or thedisconnecting of original equipmentvehicle or chassis parts andcomponents, extension of thewheelbase, suspension anddriveline modifications and axleadditions.
Pre-Delivery Service
Defects in or damage to themechanical, electrical, sheet metal,paint, trim and other components ofyour vehicle may occur at thefactory or while it is beingtransported to the dealership.Normally, any defect or damageoccurring during assembly isdetected and corrected at thefactory during the inspection
process. In addition, dealerships areobligated to inspect each vehiclebefore delivery. They repair anyuncorrected factory defects and anytransit damage detected before thevehicle is delivered to you.
Any defects still present at the timethe vehicle is delivered to you arecovered by the warranty. If you findany such defects when you takedelivery, please advise your dealerwithout delay. For further detailsconcerning any repairs which thedealership may have made prior toyour taking delivery of your vehicle,please ask your dealership.

General Motors of CanadaCompany warrants to owners ofpassenger cars, light duty trucksand vans sold in Canada, that thevehicle (1) was designed, built andequipped so as to conform at thetime of sale with the EmissionRegulations under the CanadianEnvironmental Protection Actand (2) is free from defects inmaterial and workmanship whichcause the vehicle to fail to conformwith those regulations for a period ofthe coverage outlined below.
How to Determine theApplicable Emission ControlSystem Warranty
Federal or provincial agencies mayrequire different emission controlsystem warranties for light dutytrucks depending on whether thetruck is certified with a light duty orheavy duty emission control system.
To determine emission eligibility:
1. Determine if the vehicle has agasoline or diesel engine.
2. Locate the underhood emissioncontrol label located inside theengine compartment on the aircleaner assembly or theengine.

Some provinces and localjurisdictions have establishedperiodic vehicle Inspection andMaintenance (I/M) programs toencourage proper maintenance ofyour vehicle. 30 Things to Know About the Emission Control Systems Warranty
Replacement Parts
The emission control systems ofyour vehicle, were designed, builtand tested using genuine GM parts†and the vehicle is certified as beingin conformity with the EmissionRegulations under the CanadianEnvironmental Protection Act.Accordingly, it is recommendedthat any replacement parts usedfor maintenance or for the repairof emission control systems benew, genuine GM parts.
The warranty obligations are notdependent upon the use of anyparticular brand of replacementparts. The owner may elect to usenon-genuine GM parts forreplacement purposes. Use ofreplacement parts which are notof equivalent quality may impairthe effectiveness of emissioncontrol systems.
If other than new, genuine GM partsare used for maintenancereplacements or for the repair ofcomponents affecting emissioncontrol, the owner should assurehimself/herself that such parts are
warranted by their manufacturer tobe equivalent to genuine GeneralMotors parts in performance anddurability.
Warranty repairs must be performedby an authorized General Motorsdealer except in an emergencysituation when a genuine GM part oran authorized General Motorsdealer is not reasonably available tothe vehicle owner. You areresponsible for presenting yourvehicle to a GM dealer selling yourvehicle line as soon as a problemexists.
† “GENUINE GM PARTS,” whenused in connection with GMvehicles means parts manufacturedby or for GM, designed for use onGM vehicles and distributed by anydivision or subsidiary of GeneralMotors.
Maintenance and Repairs
Warranty repairs must be performedby an authorized dealer except in asituation where the vehicle owner issignificantly inconvenienced and a
warranted part or a warranty stationis not reasonably available to thevehicle owner.
If in a situation where you aresignificantly inconvenienced, and itis necessary to have repairsperformed by other than anauthorized General Motorsdealership, and you believe therepairs are covered by the EmissionControl Systems Warranty, take thereplaced parts and your receipt toyour General Motors dealershiphandling your vehicle line forreimbursement consideration.
Receipts and records covering theperformance of regular maintenanceor emergency repairs should beretained in the event questions ariseconcerning maintenance. Thesereceipts and records should betransferred to each subsequentowner of this vehicle. GM will notdeny warranty coverage basedsolely on the absence ofmaintenance records. However, GMmay deny a warranty claim if afailure to perform scheduledmaintenance resulted in the failureof a warranted part. You should also

Claims Procedure
Make your vehicle available to anyauthorized GM dealer as soon aspossible after failing a provincial I/Mtest or at any time you suspect adefect in a part. If all the aboveconditions are met, GM warrantsthat your dealer will replace, repair,or adjust to GM specifications, at nocharge to you, any of the parts listedunder “Emission Control SystemsWarranty Parts List” which may benecessary to cause your vehicle toconform to the applicable emissionstandards.
Repairs which do not qualify will becharged to you.
