+What Do These Terms Mean?
Division – to divide – break one item down into many subparts.
Classification – to group – take many items and classify by groups.
Your task will be to divide one subject into three separate parts (subparts or subgroups) OR to classify many subjects into three specific groups.
It will be impossible to write a paper that both divides and classifies.

segregate, split, partition one item into its significant parts.

categorize, catalog diverse items into recognizable groups or types.

Make a list of the articles to be used for this assignment.
+Effective Introduction Techniques
Make certain the audience knows why this essay is worth reading.
Create a hook that interests the audience and then provide: Insight into human nature or technology Lesson learned from the articles read
End with a thesis statement that previews the main points. Make certain that the divisions or classifications are listed in the thesis.
+The Body of a Division Essay
Split one item into 3 different pieces: Decide how technology plays different roles Decide how people’s interaction with technology can be
broken into sub-groups Decide how social networking can be broken into parts.
+The Body of a Classification Essay
Group 3 parts into one item: Explain how 3 different types of social networking are
similar. Explain how different social networking sites encourage
similar cliques. Explain how technology brings similar types of people
together.
+In Each Body Paragraph…
Name what the division OR classification is (should be directly from the thesis).
Explain why this fits into the specific division OR classification.
Illustrate through DIRECT QUOTES from articles how the explanation can be proven correct. Use transitions, such as “For example,” to introduce each quote.
Use at least 1, and preferably 2, direct quotes in each body paragraph.
Synthesize – show some correlation between a couple of the articles.
Make certain to provide details.

Restate the thesis with differing vocabulary.
Leave the audience with something to think about.
