About This Manual
Purpose
At first, thank you for choosing ZXWN wireless core network system of ZTE Corporation!
ZXWN system is the 3G mobile communication system developed based on the UMTS technology. ZXWN system boasts powerful service processing capability in both CS domain and PS domain, providing more abundant service contents. Comparing with the GSM, ZXWN provides telecommunication services in wider range, capable of transmitting sound, data, graphics and other multi-media services. In addition, ZXWN has higher speed and resource utilization rate. ZXWN wireless core network system supports both 2G and 3G subscriber access, and provides various services related with the 3G core network.
ZXWN MGW Media Gateway boasts the functions of media control, providing transmission resources, and medial stream control. ZXWN MGW is totally compatible with 3GPP R4 of June 2003, and is downward compatible with 3GPP R99 of June 2002. ZXWN MGW not only supports the networking mode of bearer independent of control in 3GPP R4, but also can be bound to a MSC with ZXWN MSCS, supporting the networking mode of 3GPP R99. Besides satisfying the requirements of constructing the common mobile switching network, ZXWN MGW also can satisfy the requirements of construct the No.7 signaling network and mobile intelligent network, and can be adapted to various complicated networking modes of the mobile switching network. Thus the continuity development capability of the network is improved.
The purpose of writing this manual is to enable operators to know all alarms and notifications on ZXWN MGW NetNumen M31 (CN) Mobile Network Element Management System, and to facilitate query during troubleshooting and daily maintenance.
Intended Audience
This manual is intended for engineers and technicians who perform emergency maintenance activities on the ZXWN MGW.

Summary of Alarm Messages Alarm messages are the information prompt for the problems or faults that occur during the operation of the ZXWN MGW. Usually, alarm messages last a time and do not disappear until the corresponding problems or faults are cleared. Based on severity, alarm messages can be classified into 4 levels: critical alarms, major alarms, minor alarms and warning. The alarm severity can be modified in the NMS as required. Table 4 shows all the possible alarm description that may occur in the NMS of the MGW. For the alarms at different levels, different measures should be taken. In the case of critical and major alarm messages, contact ZTE Corporations local office as soon as
