Overview

This chapter introduces the R&D background of ZXPOS

CNT-UMTS, the composition and main features of the software.

Product BackgroundThe efficiency and profitability of a mobile communicationnetwork depends on the quality and capacity of that network.The relevant problems are shown directly on the ports ofcustomers and carriers where the core fields of networkoptimization are. Due to the change of the radio propagationenvironment and frequent expansion and upgrade, network

optimization becomes one of the core tasks to which carriersattach much importance. Network optimization personnel are inurgent need of a set of tools for testing, analyzing anddiagnosing the networks, to locate and predict network qualityand capacity, based on which network optimization plans can befurther made. During this process, the network optimization testsoftware is the most important factor.

Nowadays, the market of Network Optimization is extendingwhich indicates a flourishing future of the software application.In such a background, ZTE Corporation successfully developsnetwork optimization testing software-ZXPOS CNT to meet thedemand of the booming market.

Project parameter

Some project parameters are needed to load for the map

operation.The chapter includes the description of the load andunload of project parameters, as well as the setting of PSC colorafter the loading.

Load Project ParameterThe project parameters can be loaded via selecting [LogFile

Load CellSite] or from the tool bar .After successful loading,the information of the BTS and cell can be shown in the mapmodule.Two modes are supported,which are GSM and UMTS.

The loading window is as shown in Figure 14 %

Hardware Configuration

The chapter introduces the hardware configuration after starting

the software, including the detection, add, delete and disconnectof the hardware .The methods of how to setup, save and openLogMask are clearly introduced.

Hardware Connection1%Connect the testing mobile phone with computer via the data

cable

2%If the mobile phone is first time to be connected, it will

require installing the mobile drive software, which just needsto follow the instruction to install step by step. Probably it isrequired to install twice, since mobile has two ports: Traceport and Data port.

3%Connect the GPS with computer via the data cable

4%Plug in the USB Dog of CNT. The driver software of the USD

dog is needed to install for the first time use.

5%Start the CNT software

File Management

During the testing ,it is necessary to save some data into a file

for further analysis .The chapter is to introduce the filemanagement function of ZXPOS CNT,including file record,filereplay ,file export and file setup etc.

APT File DescriptionAir Performance Test, abbreviated as APT, is used for recordingthe information during Drive Testing, for further replay andanalysis.

The relevant tool bar with APT file is as below:

1. In the real test model, device setup is completed and thedevice is successfully connected.

2. The hardware drive software is installed.

According to the test model, the file record is devided intoindoor test and outdoor test, which are mainly different withthe GPS information. Indoor test required the assigned routebecause there is no information of latitude and longitudeprovided by GPS, while outdoor test has theinformation .This is the only difference.

The step is as following:

saving file will pop up .Input the file name and file route to startthe record and the real test control toolbar will show as below ,with the gree indicator.

During the APT file record process, the user can click button

to pause and button to stop.

For the export file, the time, longitude, latitude, and output canbe selected.

Start Time should be smaller than End Time$

When select The Whole Time Zone, the Start Time and EndTime will be invalid, and the duration will be according to thedata record of APT file.

InLat/Lon option, the range of longitude and latitude of theexport file can be selected, by default the value is the biggestrange of the GPS. If select user bound, the range can beconfigured.

In the Device&LogMask option,the section information of theexport file can be selected,including offset,time ,GPS

information ,GSM parameters ,and GPRS parameters.

The export of mobile parameters follows device difference, ie,different devices can be exported into one file,and also intodifferent files.

The format of the export file can be selected .When click Exportbutton,the below window will pop up as shown in Figure 33.

Indoor Test File ProcessFor indoor test, the data process of MS/UE/Scanner is same asoutdoor, and the difference is the source of GPS data. Sinceindoor test is without GPS realtime report, the test route shouldbe arranged first.

The signaling filter is shown as in Figure 37. If the check box isnot selected ,then the message will be not displayed in the layer3 message window.

Signaling Find

Right click and select Show/Hide Detail or direct click Ctrl+F

to display the signaling find toolbar,as shown in Figure 38.Thelookup can be based on the signaling name, signalingcontent ,and the index.

Event DisplayEvent Display is to withdraw the event, including fixed orcustomized event, from the database and display, for thenetwork optimization personnel further analysis.The eventdisplay is shown in Figure 39.

The event display function includes three parts, which are eventdisplay and control, event detailed information display and eventsynchronization and pause.

As shown in Figure 40,the left list of the window displays theinformation including event devices ,the specific event,report

time ,event information and index related with

phone,GPS,scanner . The events are listed in ascending order ofthe index.

The event filter is shown in the left window, as shown in Figure40, where the deviceS are more classified as MS,GSP,scanner

etc, shown in tree organization .If one device node areselected,all the relevant information will be display in the eventlist of the left window.

Event Information Display

If some event information can not be displayed completely, justclick the event ,then the complete information will display in theEventInfopanel in the left window,as shown in Figure 41 .It is

more convenient for the user since it is not necessary to adjustthe width of the column .

Event Synchronization and Pause

Right click one event in the event list, pop up the menu ofsynchronization and pause, as shown in Figure 42. Click the leftkey also can achieve the synchronization.It is mainly tosynchronize with the signaling in the signaling window, andsynchronize with the main play control during replay. Click

in the signaling window.Also; the signaling can be synchronizedwith the event, useful for event analysis.

Event pause is to pause the update of the event list, where therewill be no new events displayed automatically, facilitating find

the existing events.

Event SettingEvent setting is as shown in Figure 43 , which includes buttontoobar and event list .

The function of event setting mainly includes event listing anduser-defined event. For the user-defined event, it is necessary toadd it to event list, to enable the event analysis.The relatedbutton function is as following:

Customize new event and Map event filter will be introduced inthe following chapters

Event List

The event list displays the device number ,event name,event icofile and event sound file .The event can be sorted by the nameof its one certain attribute alphabetically where the fixed eventis by its own event name ,while the user-defined event is by thedevice . All the events displayed in the event list, will be

analyzed after the system gets started. The event list alsoincludes one right key menu, as shown in Figure 44,whichincludes add event,delete event and edit event.

Add Event

When the user has customized one event, it can ben added intothe event list for anayslis.The function of adding event is only foruser-defined event.If there is no user-defined event, then thebutton will be invalid.If user has customized its event, then itcan be added, as shown in Figure 45.

To add event is very flexible ,and any user-defined event can beadded .The device number,event icon and sound can be changedflexibly .But if the user-defined event already exists in the eventlist,it can not be added any more.

Delete EventTo delete event is also only for user-defined event.If oneuser-defined event is deleted from the event list, it will not beanalyzed any more. It is not to delete completely, and actually issaved by the system. The user-defined event deleted can still beadded to the event list for analysis.

Edit Event

Editting event is to edit the attributes of the event to enable itmore suitable for the practical requirement.
